Cooper v0.3.0
Cooper's biggest update yet — a drawing pad, note branches, sounds, mixed text+image notes, an update checker, and a lot of polish. Local, private, and open-source as always.
✨ New
- Built-in drawing pad — sketch with pen, line, arrow, rectangle, ellipse, and text tools, then Save drops the drawing straight onto the board as an image note. Open it from the + button in the composer.
- Note branches — right-click a note to add sub-points inline, or open them in a dedicated side panel. Great for breaking a captured idea into pieces.
- Mixed text + image notes — drop an image onto a text card to attach it. Copy grabs the note's text, and every attached image has its own one-click copy.
- Capture & new-note sounds — pick from built-ins (Pop / Click / Morse) or point Cooper at your own sound file. Preview and configure it all in the new Settings sheet.
- Daily update check — Cooper quietly checks GitHub for new releases (on by default, one notify-only banner, fully toggleable in the menu). No telemetry, no account.
🎛️ Workflow
- Instant note-taking — the composer is focused the moment Cooper appears, and right after you create or switch a section.
- Tab to grab a note — Tab cycles from the composer through the active section's notes and back. In Tab mode, Enter copies the focused note to your clipboard, and a second Enter also marks it done — capture something out without touching the mouse.
- Terminal-style sections — starting a new section clears the board (scrolls the old notes out of the way) while remembering each section's expanded/collapsed state.
- Custom export folder — choose where Markdown exports land with a native folder picker in Settings.
- Rebindable shortcuts — a full shortcuts editor in Settings; make every in-app action your own.
🛠️ Fixes
- macOS crash fix — the double-shift key listener that could crash Cooper on launch (SIGTRAP, #3) is now disabled on macOS; the Cmd+Shift global shortcuts still work there.
- Hardened link-opening against command injection.
