Release list
Cutmark 0.3.0
Cutmark 0.3.0
Cutmark 0.3.0 adds a visual, non-destructive timeline editor alongside more flexible screen recording and a faster path from capture to review.
Recording
- Three capture modes: record camera, screen, or camera and screen together. Screen-only mode does not create a camera take.
- Source selection: choose a display or an application window for screen capture, with fail-closed behavior if a selected window disappears.
- Recording controls: keep the pre-record button fixed at the bottom center while the active recording controls can be moved.
- Capture recovery: preserve per-take recording claims and recover playable camera or screen media after interruption when possible.
Visual timeline editing
- Real cut preview: review actual selected footage in a larger editing workspace with a filmstrip, audio waveform, time ruler, and draggable playhead.
- Non-destructive operations: trim, re-extend to the original source range, split, reorder, duplicate, remove and undo without altering the original recording.
- Navigation: scrub from the ruler or media lanes, zoom to fit and adjust timeline zoom. Extra workspace after the clip does not add blank seconds to the exported edit.
- Screen recording compatibility: handle sparse or variable-frame-rate screen captures using available source metadata instead of rejecting a playable clip solely because its minimum frame duration is unusual.
- MCP editing: support reviewed timeline plans, including trim extension, through the Cutmark integration.
Review and updates
- After-stop preview: once a take is saved, a small lower-left preview offers playback, review, and an Edit action without duplicating the recording.
- Check for Updates: a visible manual command in both the Cutmark app menu and the in-app menu reports whether an update is available or verification failed; checking does not automatically install an update.
Distribution and compatibility
- Platform: macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon. The iPhone companion is not part of this release.
- Signing: this release intentionally uses the existing ad-hoc signed, non-notarized distribution channel. The separate Developer ID/notarization workflow remains fail-closed for other future release tags.
- macOS Gatekeeper: first launch may require System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
- Validation: CI tests/build and a manual Cutmark Smoke R5 check passed before merging the editor changes. Not every camera, microphone, window, or multi-monitor hardware combination was exercised.
Install
Download Cutmark.dmg, verify its SHA-256 against SHA256SUMS, open the disk image, and drag Cutmark.app into Applications. Updating may require granting camera, microphone, or screen-recording permission again because this release is signed ad-hoc rather than with a stable Apple Developer ID.
Cutmark 0.2.0
Cutmark 0.2.0
Cutmark 0.2.0 moves the editing system from timing infrastructure into evidence-driven screen editing, while hardening how public builds are delivered and updated.
Editing
- Click-driven auto zooms: Cutmark can propose source-aware zooms from recorded screen interactions and apply only reviewed suggestions to a new edit version.
- Stable zoom rendering: zooms map through the real frame-rounded cut, including reused screen ranges, while preserving output size, duration, cover behavior, and existing overlays.
- Smart-speed analysis: Cutmark can identify conservative 1.5× candidates only when ScreenCaptureKit reports visual idle and screen-clock audio evidence is silent. This release keeps smart-speed read-only; it does not retime media yet.
Recording evidence
- Append-only screen event evidence: Camera + Screen recording can persist normalized pointer movement, clicks, scrolls, manual markers, and ScreenCaptureKit visual active/idle transitions alongside the take.
- Privacy boundary: the event format does not capture keystrokes, and smart-speed never treats missing pointer activity as proof that the screen is idle.
- Screen-clock audio timing: camera + screen takes prepare the screen movie's own word/sound timing so editing decisions do not translate timestamps from another source clock.
Release security
- Verified update downloads: Cutmark checks the SHA-256 digest published by GitHub before mounting a downloaded release DMG.
- Fail-closed production path: the repository now has a protected Developer ID + Apple notarization pipeline for future production-signed releases, including hardened runtime, secure timestamps, stapling, Gatekeeper checks, and publisher-bound updates.
- 0.2.0 distribution: this artifact uses the same ad-hoc signing channel as 0.1.1 because Apple Developer credentials are not configured yet. macOS may require System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway on first launch.
Platform
Cutmark 0.2.0 is a macOS 15+ Apple silicon release. The iPhone companion remains outside the public macOS release path.
Install
Download Cutmark.dmg from this release, open it, and drag Cutmark.app to Applications.
Cutmark 0.1.1
Cutmark 0.1.1
Cutmark 0.1.1 focuses on recording reliability and keeping the recording workflow reachable outside the Cutmark window.
Recording
- Crash-recoverable camera and screen takes: camera and screen movies are finalized in short fragments so completed media can survive an unexpected app or system interruption.
- Interrupted-take recovery: Cutmark keeps a durable per-take recording journal and automatically attaches playable camera or screen media the next time it opens.
- Visible recovery confirmation: when an interrupted take is restored, Cutmark tells you what was recovered.
- Screen recording control strip: Camera + Screen recordings now keep a compact Cutmark control strip above other apps and full-screen Spaces with the elapsed time, microphone level, selected display, and Stop & Save. The strip is excluded from the recorded screen.
- Recording preflight: screen-capture permission and critically low disk space are caught before the camera warm-up and countdown instead of failing after you are ready to record.
- Stable screen timing: synthetic static-screen filler and delayed ScreenCaptureKit frames can no longer regress video presentation timestamps.
Editing foundation
- Shared TimeMap: source and output timing now use one mapping foundation for cuts and future non-destructive speed or event-driven edits.
Reliability
- Chat process completion: Cutmark waits for the final process output to be delivered before a chat run is considered finished.
- Current GitHub Actions runtimes: release and CI actions use their current Node 24-compatible major versions.
Platform
Cutmark 0.1.1 is a macOS 15+ Apple silicon release. The iPhone companion remains disabled in this release.
Signing
The open-source release artifact is ad-hoc signed and is not notarized. macOS may require System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway on first launch.
Cutmark 0.1.0
Cutmark 0.1.0
Cutmark 0.1.0 is the first public TriHerm Labs release of the local-first video production workspace created by Fernando Abishai.
Highlights
- Independent Cutmark identity:
Cutmark.app, bundle identifiercom.triherm.cutmark,~/Movies/Cutmark, its own URL scheme, config, update channel, assets, and GitHub releases. - Provider-neutral setup: choose Claude Code, Codex, pi, or opencode during first run. Cutmark does not silently install Claude Code.
- Multi-provider in-app chat: Claude Code, Codex, pi, and opencode are first-class runners. opencode conversations persist and resume their native session.
- Direct MCP access: Cutmark's MCP server can run over stdio or the MCP
2025-06-18Streamable HTTP profile. ChatGPT does not require Codex as a bridge when custom MCP access is available. - Cutmark-native identity: the MCP server is registered as
cutmark, bundled skills usecutmark-*, and internal targets, helpers, and app metadata use Cutmark naming. - Cutmark-owned secrets: auxiliary keys are written to
~/.config/cutmark/.env. Legacy~/.claude/.envvalues are read only as a migration fallback. - Private by default: the v0.1.0 release configures no usage analytics endpoint. The MCP HTTP listener binds to loopback by default.
- Independent release path: GitHub Actions tests, builds, packages, and releases
Cutmark.dmgfrom the TriHerm repository.
Platform
Cutmark 0.1.0 is a macOS 15+ Apple silicon release. The Cutmark iPhone companion source remains in the repository for future release work, but the phone bridge is disabled in this release.
Signing
The open-source release artifact is ad-hoc signed and is not yet notarized. macOS may require System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway on first launch.
