BUS Core 1.4.0

BUS Core 1.4.0 is a major product-quality and reliability release focused on making everyday shop operations clearer, safer, and more dependable.

This release improves Jobs and Invoices, introduces disclosed and controllable product telemetry, adds access to TGC Managed BUS, and strengthens the operational rules protecting inventory, invoices, pricing, and cash records.

Jobs and Invoices

  • Clearer Jobs and Invoice workflows
  • Improved status and primary-action visibility
  • Safer job-to-invoice conversion
  • Existing active invoices reopen instead of being duplicated
  • Improved unsaved-change warnings
  • More consistent CAD totals and labels
  • Improved narrow-screen invoice layout and print presentation
  • Better keyboard and modal behaviour

Operational integrity

  • A job can no longer have multiple active non-void invoices
  • Invoice note lines can no longer retain hidden financial value
  • Item metadata changes can no longer bypass stock movements, FIFO batches, or journals
  • Negative and non-finite prices are rejected before they can affect invoices, inventory, sales, or cash events
  • Legacy invoice links are reconciled safely during migration

Telemetry and privacy

BUS Core now supports limited product telemetry designed to help maintain release reliability and understand coarse workflow use.

Telemetry:

  • is disclosed during first-run onboarding
  • can be disabled in Settings
  • does not collect customer names, item names, recipe content, invoice content, exact financial values, shop records, or raw database data
  • fails open and never blocks local operation

More information is available on the BUS Core telemetry and privacy pages.

Managed BUS

BUS Core remains complete and free to run yourself.

A new Settings link provides information about TGC Managed BUS for shops that prefer True Good Craft to handle hosting, updates, backups, monitoring, and bounded support.

Packaging and release reliability

  • Strengthened clean-install and application bootstrap testing
  • Improved update and launcher regression coverage
  • Synchronized packaged privacy, legal, and operational documentation
  • Added checks preventing stale documentation from entering release archives
  • Restored the complete authoritative serial release gate

Validation

The release candidate completed:

  • 688 passed
  • 2 skipped
  • 0 failed
  • 0 errors

Additional version, packaging, update, telemetry, privacy, JavaScript, Python, UI-contract, and structural checks also passed.

Upgrade notes

No intentional breaking changes are included.

Existing BUS Core 1.3.2 installations can upgrade normally to 1.4.0. Keeping a current backup before updating is recommended.
