ElectrumSVP 0.2.0

ElectrumSVP 0.2.0 is the first stable release of the ElectrumSVP project.

This release includes improvements to wallet security, transaction verification, UTXO control, fee handling, platform compatibility, and overall usability.

Security

  • Fixed plaintext storage of BIP39 mnemonic words in wallet data.
  • Existing affected wallets are migrated so the plaintext mnemonic is removed from wallet storage.
  • Improved nonce handling and related wallet security.
  • Added safeguards around wallet seed handling and key management.

Important: If a wallet's mnemonic was exposed before upgrading, treat that mnemonic as compromised and move funds to a newly created wallet with a new seed.

Transaction Verification & BREAD

  • Improved transaction and block-header verification reliability.
  • Improved BREAD (Blockchain Referenced Evidence and Data) creation and verification.
  • Fixed the Windows BREAD/merkle-cache path so the correct application cache location is used.
  • Improved handling of transaction proofs and verification data.

Transactions, Fees & UTXOs

  • Updated fee handling and fee calculations.
  • Added stronger minimum-fee safeguards.
  • Improved UTXO/coin selection and control.
  • Fixed the payment destination dialog so Max respects UTXOs selected through Spend From instead of clearing the selection.
  • Improved multiple-destination payment handling.
  • Added address freezing and related coin-control improvements.

Wallets & Accounts

  • Improved account and key management.
  • Improved wallet creation and restoration handling.
  • Improved support for multiple accounts and key types.
  • Continued support for BIP39 and Electrum seed restoration.

Platform & Compatibility

  • Improved compatibility with newer Linux distributions, including current Ubuntu and Arch Linux systems.
  • Improved Python 3.10 compatibility.
  • Fixed Linux runtime and segmentation-fault issues affecting supported builds.
  • Fixed QR-code scanning issues on Windows.
  • Improved QR-code scanning reliability.
  • Fixed macOS wallet data-path handling.
  • Improved cross-platform application behavior.

User Interface

  • Added and refined application themes.
  • Improved dark-theme display behavior.
  • Improved USD/fiat amount and fee display.
  • Improved wallet and transaction controls.
