Preview link doesn't show all the content of unpublished post (with some themes)

Issue Summary

The preview link doesn't show all the content of the relevant post as before. Even when the post is marked as Public it seems like it is for members/tiers only.

Hey Yovko! The preview functionality got an overhaul recently, and then some bugs squashed, and I'm actually here in the issues tab to file a /different/ preview bug around tiers. But just to confirm: You're seeing this when you preview a PUBLIC access post, too? Does that happen with Source, or only with this specific theme? I'm suspecting this might be a theme bug...?

Hi Cathy! Yep, I see this when I preview a scheduled (not published yet) public post with a specific theme (Renge). I've temporarily switched to Source, and there is no such problem (when using Source), so maybe you are right that it might be an issue related to the specific theme. I will try to investigate deeper.

It is strange as the theme has not been touched recently. It could be some combination of different influences.

Hi @yovko, @cathysarisky! I’ve checked this issue on my end and here’s what it looks like: in my themes, I use the helper {{#if access}}, and from what I can see in the current version of Ghost (5.120.2), the behavior is quite strange. When we use in post.hbs:

{{#if access}}
  yes
{{else}}
  no
{{/if}}

In the preview version of a public post, we of course get yes; when we publish it, we also get yes.
But when we add it to the queue to publish and check the post using the preview link, we get no.

And since I style the content differently when the user doesn’t have access (which the Source theme doesn’t do) — hence the difference — nevertheless, this affects all themes, if someone, like me, styles posts differently when the user doesn’t have access, they’ll get an unintended result in the preview view of a scheduled post.

It seems as if Ghost treats every preview link for a scheduled post as if the viewer doesn’t have access, even though the post is set to public.

@yovko Thanks for the report! Can you confirm if you're also seeing this behavior only for scheduled posts, or is the behavior you're describing always present, regardless of post status?

Thanks @yovko, that's helpful. Can you confirm for me what the post access settings are for this linked post? I suspect it's set to "Specific Tiers", is that right?

Would you mind also checking these links and confirming if the content is rendering how you would expect it to, for each audience group?
