First public release.

A screenshot capture-and-annotate app that works the same on GNOME, KDE Plasma,
XFCE and MATE — on X11 and Wayland alike.

Install

AppImage — nothing else needed, it carries its own Python and Qt:

chmod +x Shotpad-1.0.0-x86_64.AppImage
./Shotpad-1.0.0-x86_64.AppImage --install # menu entry, icon, file associations

pipx — if you would rather type one command:

pipx install git+https://github.com/TuranIsmayilov/shotpad.git
shotpad --install

What it does

  • Padding, gradient/image backgrounds, rounded corners, shadows and tilt
  • Pen, highlighter, arrows, lines, shapes, text, auto-numbered badges
  • Blur, pixelate or block out anything private — baked into the pixels, so a
redaction stays redacted however you re-frame the shot
  • Crop, rotate, flip, unlimited undo, export at 1×–3×
  • Annotations live in screenshot coordinates, so re-padding or cropping never
makes an arrow drift off what it points at
