THIS IS A BUG FIX RELEASE:

  • The login page was missing its footer due to an oversight. It's been restored. It's unlikely anybody would have ever noticed this as it didn't seem to be causing any problems whatsoever.

Before upgrading, you must rename any default template files you may have customized, or they will be overwritten. This will take a little bit of work if you've not already done this. Unzip the file and then drop the contents into the directory you're hosting your website in. It should take care of itself. If you are installing ComicControl for the first time, visit www.yoursitename.com/comiccontrol/ to begin the installation process.

You must create a database user, a database name, and a database password in order to install ComicControl for the first time. Click on PHPMyAdmin in cPanel to get started. It should be pretty straightforward.

Do not do a fresh installation of ComicControl using this package unless you have already updated to PHP 8.5 beforehand.

If you are installing ComicControl for the first time and you're already using PHP 8.5, you may disregard the following information.

If you are upgrading from an older version of ComicControl and plan to update to PHP 8.5 immediately after, you MUST make 1 small change to dbconfig.php manually.

The PDO::MYSQL_ATTR_FOUND_ROWS constant is deprecated as of PHP 8.5 and your site will warn you about it. One small change is required to update to the modern standard and get rid of the warning. The problematic file can be found in \comiccontrol\includes\dbconfig.php and only exists after a ComicControl installation has been completed.

Change the line in that file that says:

PDO::MYSQL_ATTR_FOUND_ROWS => true

to

PDO\Mysql::ATTR_FOUND_ROWS => true

And that's it.
