The Simulation Rig is officially functional!

Run the V4_Serial_Reader program to pull data from the sensors and publish it in a continuously updating Excel file. Simultaneously, run the V1_Visualizer program to read data from the Excel file and show the sensor readings overlayed on a map of the Simulation Rig.

Theoretically, as long as the V4_Serial_Reader program is running and the spreadsheet is being pushed to GitHub, the V1_Visualizer can be used from anywhere in the world, again as long as you keep pulling the latest version of the spreadsheet from GitHub.

The new V4 Python program runs as expected. It pulls in data from over 200 sensors and stores the data in a spreadsheet as it comes in from the Arduinos.

Currently, the spreadsheet that is generated is not compatible with the Mine_Evacuation.py program:

  • Issue 1: Program expects 32 sensor locations, spreadsheet has 99.
  • Issue 2: V4 program does not specify which sensor is at which location. This will be resolved after sensors have been physically installed.
