Welcome to the UCF Document Plugin wiki! This documentation is intended for anyone adding content to a site with this plugin activated, and for developers that maintain sites using it.

This documentation assumes a basic understanding of WordPress and how to create and manage content. If you're new to WordPress, please take the time to familiarize yourself with the basics until you're comfortable with using the admin interface.

About this plugin

The UCF Document Plugin is a WordPress plugin developed by UCF Web Communications, intended for providing a tool for hosting documents while allowing for more control over permalinks and the overall structure of those documents.

Project goals

The UCF Document Plugin intends to provide a set of tools for simple document management on a WordPress site. It's primary focus is on providing back end tools for management, especially of permalink structures. It is not intended to be a fully featured document management system. It does not provide tools for managing authorization, version control, or many other features a full fledged document management system would provide.

However, it does provide the ability to host a document at a particular URL, and then allows for the update of that document without the URL changing. It also provides some simple taxonomies for management that can be used by other plugins to display documents in a structured way.

Should I use this plugin on my site?

If you need a simple solution for managing and replacing documents on your site, while minimizing broken links or the need for redirects, this plugin should do the trick.
