Config.json

Config.json

The mod's global settings: which key-item slots are checked, per-gimmick master toggles (Mega Evolution, Z-Power, Terastallization, Fusion, Dynamax/Gigantamax), and a server-wide item disable list. Located at GenesisForms/config.json.

Note

As of the config system rework, config.json is no longer an all-or-nothing file. On load, GenesisForms compares your file against its bundled defaults and adds any missing keys (new settings introduced by a mod update) without touching keys you've already changed — you never need to delete and regenerate the file after updating. /genesis reload (see Commands) reloads config.json live, so most changes here take effect without a server restart.

Top Level

Field Type Default Description
debug boolean false Prints extra debug information to console.

General Settings — general_settings

Key Item Slotsgeneral_settings.key_item_slots

Key items (Mega Rings, Z-Rings, Dynamax Bands, Tera Orbs, the Zygarde Cube, Fusion/Possession items, etc.) only function while GenesisForms can "see" them in one of the player's inventory slots. This block controls which slots are actually scanned.

Field Type Default Description
hotbar boolean true Scan the 9 hotbar slots.
main boolean true Scan the rest of the main inventory (the 27 non-hotbar slots).
mainhand boolean true Also explicitly check whatever's currently held in the main hand (redundant with hotbar/main unless both are false).
offhand boolean true Also check the off-hand slot.
armor boolean false Also check the four armor slots — needed if you want a key item usable while worn as armor.
specific integer array [] Extra raw inventory slot indices to check, on top of whatever the toggles above already cover. Useful for curio/baubles-style slots from other mods that aren't covered by the standard categories.

Tip

If you want key items to work from anywhere in the inventory, set main and hotbar both to true (the default). If you want to force players to hold or wear their key item, turn main off and leave mainhand/offhand/armor on as needed.

Disabled Itemsgeneral_settings.disabled_items

Field Type Default Description
disabled_items string array [] List of item IDs (the short ID used in that item's own config entry, e.g. zygarde_cube, max_soup, max_honey, max_mushrooms, or a held/key item's item_id) to fully disable. A disabled item no-ops when used instead of being removed from the game — it stays craftable/obtainable but does nothing.

Note

disabled_items is checked per-item, independently of the gimmick-level toggles below (mega_settings, tera_settings, etc.). Use it to turn off one specific item (e.g. just the Zygarde Cube) without disabling the whole mechanic; use the gimmick toggles to turn off an entire mechanic regardless of which item triggers it.

Mega Evolution Settings — mega_settings

Field Type Default Description
enable_mega_evolution boolean true Master toggle for Mega Evolution — Mega Stones, Mega Rings, and Mega accessories all stop working when false.
allow_mega_outside_battles boolean true Let players Mega Evolve/revert outside of battle using a Mega accessory. When false, Mega accessories only work mid-battle; held Mega Stones still trigger Mega Evolution automatically on battle entry regardless of this setting.
use_tradeable_property boolean false When true, Mega Evolving sets the Pokémon's Cobblemon tradeable flag to false (and restores it to true on reverting), in addition to GenesisForms' own internal untradeable marker. Enable this if another plugin/mod reads Cobblemon's native tradeable property to gate trading, so Mega-Evolved Pokémon can't be traded away mid-transformation.

Z-Power Settings — z_power_settings

Field Type Default Description
enable_z_crystals boolean true Master toggle for Z-Power — Z-Crystals and Z-Ring accessories stop working when false.

Tera Settings — tera_settings

Field Type Default Description
enable_tera boolean true Master toggle for Terastallization — Tera Shards and Tera Orb accessories stop working when false.
tera_shards_required integer 50 How many Tera Shards (of the matching type) must be in the stack to Terastallize. Also the amount consumed per use when consume_tera_shards is true.
consume_tera_shards boolean true Whether using Tera Shards actually consumes tera_shards_required of them from the stack (ignored in creative mode). Set false for a purely cosmetic/consumable-free Tera Shard item.
require_orb_recharge boolean true Require the Tera Orb accessory to recharge between uses (per that accessory's own recharge configuration) rather than allowing back-to-back Terastallization.
fix_ogerpon_tera_type boolean true Force Ogerpon's Tera type to match its mask/form instead of whatever Tera type it would otherwise roll, matching mainline game behavior.
fix_terapagos_tera_type boolean true Force Terapagos's Tera type to Stellar, matching mainline game behavior.

Fusion Settings — fusion_settings

Field Type Default Description
enable_fusions boolean true Master toggle for the Fusion mechanic — Fusion items stop working when false.

Dynamax Settings — dynamax_settings

Field Type Default Description
enable_dynamax boolean true Master toggle for Dynamax — Dynamax Bands/Candy and Dynamax accessories stop working when false.
enable_gigantamax boolean true Master toggle for Gigantamax specifically. Requires enable_dynamax to also be true — Max Soup, Max Honey, and Gigantamax-related accessory behavior all check both flags.
