ZeroVPN v0.2.0
Summary:
ZeroVPN v0.2.0 adds working Friends / Share Exit, Shared Exit QR import, and Volunteer Exit support alongside Oracle Free Exit provisioning.
Highlights:
- Oracle Free Exit provisions an Oracle VM and WireGuard exit.
- First-time Oracle setup typically takes about 5 minutes; reconnecting later is fast.
- Friends / Share Exit creates 3 QR invite slots per Oracle exit.
- Shared Exit recipients can scan QR and connect through the owner?s VM.
- First successful handshake burns the reusable QR/private invite material.
- Owner can revoke/reset an invite slot and generate a fresh QR.
- Volunteer Exit is visible in normal Add Exit workflow and uses HEV-native support in the release artifact.
- Destroy with Oracle reauth resumes the correct destroy operation and does not accidentally provision a new VM.
- Diagnostics improved without exposing secrets.
Limitations:
- Experimental Android app.
- Not a commercial VPN provider.
- Oracle exits run in the user?s Oracle account.
- Friends sharing should only be used with trusted people.
- Volunteer Exit remains experimental, web/TCP-focused, and some sites may block it.
- HEV-native release artifact is built in Linux/GitHub Actions.
- This release APK is a debug/pre-release artifact because production signing is not configured.

ZeroVPN v0.1.1
ZeroVPN v0.1.1 is a bugfix pre-release focused on Oracle Free Exit provisioning outside the original UK/London development path.
Bug fixes:
- Fixed stale/hardcoded London assumptions in Oracle region handling.
- Manual Oracle home-region selection now flows into auth, discovery, endpoint construction, and signer/provisioning paths correctly.
- Automatic home-region discovery now supports non-UK tenancies more reliably.
- Confirmed non-UK Oracle home-region path can discover eu-zurich-1, create a VM, configure VPN, and exit via Zurich.
- Developer Mode no longer changes region/provisioning behaviour; it only enables diagnostics.
- Added clearer region trace and exact OCI Identity endpoint DNS failure messages.
- Added guidance for networks/devices that cannot resolve OCI Identity endpoints.
- Improved SSH setup/readiness handling during VM provisioning.
Known limitations:
- Some Android devices/networks may fail to resolve Oracle regional Identity endpoints, especially with Private DNS, adblock DNS, VPN, firewall, or filtered Wi-Fi DNS. ZeroVPN now reports the exact hostname and suggested troubleshooting.
- Oracle account creation/MFA remains external to the app.
- Volunteer Network remains experimental on a spike branch and is not part of this release.
- This remains a pre-release.
ZeroVPN v0.1
ZeroVPN v0.1 is the first experimental public release.
Current working path:
- Create an Oracle Free Exit
- Provision an Oracle Cloud VM
- Configure WireGuard
- Connect Android through the VM using Android VpnService
- Show basic connection diagnostics
Important limitations:
- Oracle account signup/login/MFA is still rough.
- Create and verify your Oracle Cloud account before using the app.
- Volunteer Network, QR Invite, Import Config, Private Node, and Logs are not implemented yet.
- This is experimental software.
- Traffic exits through your own Oracle VM.
