Critical bug
In versions 5.x, we have identified an error in the attenuation calculation under favourable propagation conditions that can occur when using the DEM (Thanks, Carsten, for letting us know). This error was not present in versions prior to 5.x and has been corrected in this new version 6.0.
We therefore advise you to stop using versions 5.x and move to 6.x.
In the NoiseModelling with Graphic User Interface (GUI) version:
A brand new interface, more modern (and adaptable thanks to a .css file).
Possibility to chain WPS blocks as in a graphic modeler.
You can now deploy NoiseModelling as a service on a dedicated web server, with secure access (TOTP, login, and access control using JWT cookie).
Job management per user, including logging and cancellation.
Visualize the processes thanks to a "Python code" tab for replaying a run using OGC Web Processing Service API standard.
Automatic Save / Load of the interface when closing/opening the browser.
Technical points
The former graphical user interface (which depended on Geoserver) was not compatible with versions older than Java 11. Now that this dependency no longer exists, you can use newer versions of Java.
In the NoiseModelling with GUI version : Import/Export user database and project directly from the user interface.
Documentation
The documentation has been updated to reflect this new version. It now includes a new section (entitled FUNCTIONS) dedicated to describing all WPS scripts.
The packaged Noisemodelling.zip now contains the current release documentation for offline reading.
Save the date
The "NoiseModelling Days 2026" will take place on 23 and / or 24 September 2026, via videoconference.
The "NoiseModelling Days 2027" should take place in person in Brussels, before or after Forum Acousticum (https://forum-acusticum.org/fa2027/ - 21–25 June 2027). The exact date will be announced at a later date.
