This is an older release. The current version is always at releases/latest.

Includes the changes since v0.99.362.

Sources

  • Windows: browser cues render directly into the programme output without
opening a window over the desk. Page size is independent of display
scaling. Use the inspector to scroll, click through a cookie banner or
open the hands-on window for login.
  • SOURCE > Window opens the window picker beside the button.
  • Windows: window capture uses the window's full-resolution picture,
independent of display scaling. Capture follows moves and resizes,
excludes overlapping windows and captures static pages.
  • Missing source windows are reported by name instead of producing a
    dark cue.

Effects

  • New: DATABEND processes picture data through an audio delay with feedback,
filter and wavefolder, then draws the result. Live controls require no
    media preparation.
  • New: AUDIOPRINT draws the deck's waveform down the picture and displaces
each line horizontally with the same audio signal. Combine it with
DATABEND and an audio-following parameter for interacting sound and
    picture effects.
  • Added 8 audio bends, including one driven by the picture.
  • Fixed an issue where SHATTER did not break the picture immediately after
being added. Shard size now has an immediate visible effect.

Outputs

  • All downloads include the NDI sender. Install the free NDI runtime to
send programme output over the network.

Recording

  • Fixed an issue where recorded audio did not stay aligned with its picture
across recording duration and frame rates.
  • Recordings retain every sample played by the decks, including audio
between video frames and the final audio when a take is stopped.
  • Pocket Test recordings include the sync beep with the flash, allowing
end-to-end sync measurement from the recording as well as live output.

Interface

  • Reduced repeated interface drawing. Idle control-window CPU use is about
one third of its previous level.
  • Renamed the settings button to MENU.
  • Empty playlists show shortcuts: I to import, P for a pattern, or
    drag media into the list.

Companion and remote protocol

  • Fixed an issue where Companion LFO buttons did not drive the selected
    parameter.
  • Commands that cannot run, including requests for nonexistent decks or
features absent from the build, return an error and reason instead of
    OK.
  • macOS and Linux: connected controllers receive command replies immediately.

Fonts

  • --font-check accepts a language, e.g. --font-check ja, and reports
whether this machine can draw it.

Control surfaces

Surface File How
Stream Deck Deckboy-1.0.0.streamDeckPlugin Double-click it.
Bitfocus Companion Deckboy-companion-module-1.0.0.zip Unzip it somewhere permanent, then point Companion's developer modules path at the folder containing it. INSTALL.txt inside has the three steps.

First run

Deckboy is free software and is not code-signed, so the OS does not recognise the publisher. One time only:

  • macOS — if it says the app is damaged: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Deckboy.app
  • Windows — SmartScreen may appear: More info → Run anyway

Deckboy is free, open-source cue-based media playback and show control for live video — clips, slides and live sources on one cue list, out to a screen, SRT or Blackmagic SDI, with a stream and a recording running at the same time and presenter view on its own display, driven from a Stream Deck, Bitfocus Companion, OSC, MIDI or LTC timecode.
