Release list
Dishonored VR 1.0.1 Hotfix
1.0.1
- Fix progressive narrowing to a small central gameplay window when automatic
FOV is below the camera baseline. Render resolution remains unchanged. - Revalidate the persistent FOV writer's camera ownership after menu/load changes.
- The launcher checks GitHub for stable releases and offers the newest update with
a short changelog. It updates itself and then installs the bundled mod. - About includes Check for updates and saved changelog history.
- Updates default to replacing the INI with the tested defaults, with an exact
backup. Disabling replacement shows a compatibility warning. - Detect Steam and GOG libraries, launch GOG copies through Galaxy, and choose
the game folder directly from the home screen. Win64 installations are blocked. - Clearer Current Settings, Create shortcut buttons, and controller-first play
instructions (L3 + R3). Update buttons show the version without the build ID. - Downloads verify size, SHA-256 and version. Failed mod updates restore the
previous files; replacing the launcher also preserves a backup. - Fix Collect logs failing with a missing temporary folder on fresh installations.
- Keep the current game log plus nine previous runs. Support ZIPs include the
newest logs first and stay below 24 MB; oversized current logs retain the build
header and latest events, with omissions clearly listed in the manifest. - Missing or unreadable optional evidence no longer prevents collecting the rest.
- Desktop mirror defaults off on every runtime, including SteamVR, for a potential
large performance boost. If SteamVR crashes on startup, turn Desktop mirror ON. - Automated checks cover FOV feedback, updates, installation, and support collection.
Actual GOG launch and headset comfort remain outside automated coverage.
Download and run DishonoredVR-Launcher-v1.0.1.exe below. This is the one manual download needed to move from 1.0.0 to the updater-capable launcher. Future stable versions can update both launcher and mod from the startup prompt or About > Check for updates. The ZIP is for manual installation.
Leave Overwrite INI enabled for the current tested defaults. Your previous settings are backed up.
Validation: optimized 32-bit build, automated FOV/update/install/log tests, and a Steam game run with the simulated Quest 3 runtime covering load, gameplay, settings, pause/resume and clean exit at unchanged 2750x2850. This PC was not an affected FOV reproduction. Affected-player confirmation, real GOG Galaxy launch, and headset perception remain outside these checks.
Dishonored VR 1.0.0
The first numbered release of Dishonored VR. From here on, releases use semantic version numbers: 1.0.1 for fixes, 1.1.0 for new features.
Install
- Download
DishonoredVR-Launcher-v1.0.0.exebelow. - Run it. It finds Dishonored in your Steam library by itself.
- Pick your headset and render quality. The defaults, "Let the mod choose" and Balanced, are a good start.
- Press Install, then launch the game through Steam.
Already on a test build? Run the new launcher and press Update. Your settings are kept unless you tick "Overwrite INI and F10 settings on update".
Prefer copying files by hand? The zip has the same build; the README walks through it.
Headset: 120 Hz, or 144 Hz with the Virtual Desktop beta. Quest users should run Virtual Desktop with VDXR. SteamVR users should start SteamVR first. Turn Motion Blur off in the game's options and always launch through Steam.
What's in 1.0.0
- Real stereo with full head tracking. The game draws each eye from its own position, and every image reaches the headset with the head pose it was drawn for, so head turns stay steady.
- Tracked hands holding the sword, pistol and crossbow, with the game's arms cut at the wrist.
- Motion sword. Swing to attack, stab an unaware guard from behind for the stealth kill, and drop takedowns from above are timed for you.
- Hand aiming for Blink, Possession, Devouring Swarm, Windblast, the pistol, the crossbow and grenades, with head aim available per item. The crosshair, the laser and the shot come from one ray.
- Physical crouching at your real eye height.
- A HUD on your hands. Health and mana on your wrists, a weapon wheel you pick from with your hand, notes held in your hand, and every HUD element movable between a window, the world and either hand.
- No camera shake or head bob by default, each kind switchable in F10.
- Throwing carried objects along your hand's aim, and the same walking speed in every direction.
- The F10 panel in Dishonored's style, usable from the controllers, with Basic, Advanced and Debug levels and a Layout tab showing the controller bindings.
- The launcher: install, update, change settings, a Bindings page, log collection for bug reports, desktop and Start menu shortcuts, disable VR, uninstall, and an About page.
The full feature list, the controls and the known issues are in the README.
Known issues
- SteamVR's own native 32-bit OpenXR shows the image upside down. Pick "SteamVR headset" in the launcher to use the bundled bridge, which works.
- After dying, the image can shrink to a small square until the next load.
- A spring razor placed very close to you can be invisible. It still works.
- Starting
Dishonored.exedirectly instead of through Steam can crash at the main menu. - OpenXR capture tools such as OpenXR-OBSMirror can't record the game (their layer is 64-bit, the game is 32-bit). Record SteamVR's "Display VR View" or Virtual Desktop's recorder instead.
Found a bug? Press Collect logs in the launcher and attach the zip to an issue.
Support the mod
If you're enjoying Dishonored VR and feeling generous, you can support it on Ko-fi. Thank you, it genuinely helps. Every donation goes toward the AI bills that make this work possible and into further development of this mod and the ones after it. The mod is free and always will be.
