Play Team Fortress 2 inside Minecraft.

Download the zip for your system, unzip it, and follow the install guide inside:

  • Windows: FortCraft-Windows-2026-10-19.zip, then run START-HERE.cmd (see INSTALL-WINDOWS.md). Unzip it to a folder whose path has no spaces, for example C:\FortCraft.
  • Windows, LOW-END PCs and laptops: FortCraft-Windows-LowEnd-2026-10-19.zip. Same install, but it plays in low-end mode: 60 fps, TF2 at 720p on its lowest graphics, Minecraft on fast graphics with a short render distance. Pick this if the normal version lags.
  • Linux: FortCraft-Linux-2026-10-19.zip, then run setup.sh (see INSTALL-LINUX.md)

You need your own copies of Minecraft Java Edition and Team Fortress 2 (free on Steam). No game files are included.

New in 0.5.9: easier install, fixes from the GitHub issues

  • Windows: no Visual Studio or Python needed any more. The download now comes with the TF2 side ready-built, so setup is shorter and skips the steps most install problems came from.

  • Reporting a bug? Double-click COLLECT-LOGS.cmd (Windows) or run tools/collect_logs.sh (Linux) and attach the zip it makes to your issue.

  • TF2's backpack won't load ("contacting item server")? Open Minecraft's inventory (F) and middle-click a block to hold it, so you can still build (#24, #28).

  • Setup finds Python and Java 25 when they're installed but not on PATH, and no longer stops when winget says they're already installed (#18, #20).

  • Setup stops at the start with a clear message if the folder path has a space (#14, #26).

  • If TF2 closes while Minecraft is still open (a crash, a sound device change), it starts again by itself and reconnects (#19, #3). Keep the PLAY-FORTCRAFT window open while you play. Windows only for now.

  • TF2 no longer quits when Minecraft pauses for a few seconds on slower PCs (#6).

  • TF2's window is hidden again if it ever shows up during play (#21, #23).

  • TF2's overlay no longer drops to 640x480, Red's spawn point is fixed, and Minecraft starts on more Windows setups (thanks @alexor170812-sys, #4).

  • A clear message when Source SDK Base 2013 Multiplayer's files are missing (#8).

  • Linux: a message when Steam isn't running (#16), and TF2's Steam library is shared with Steam's runtime (#22).

These fixes haven't been play-tested on the reporters' PCs yet. Please comment on your issue if it still happens.
