Release list
Ringshadow 0.1.1
Ringshadow is a real-time strategy game about prospectors who mine Stardust Ore and Metallic Hydrogen in the shadow of a ringed gas giant. This second pre-release is built from commit 7deaf88. It fixes how the game is packaged; the game plays the same as 0.1.0.
What changed since 0.1.0
- Windows: the Visual C++ runtime now comes in the zip, next to the game. A PC that has never had it installed starts the game without a missing-DLL error.
- Version: the game now carries its own version, 0.1.1. You see it in the Windows exe's properties (Product version) and in the Mac app's Get Info. Both showed the engine's 5.8.3 before.
- Linux: the package has been played for the first time. It reached the home screen on Ubuntu 24.04 with an NVIDIA L4 (driver 595).
- Home screen: the key art's slow zoom and pan now follow the game's clock.

Windows: unzip anywhere and run Ringshadow\Autocraft.exe. SmartScreen may warn about an unknown publisher: click More info, then Run anyway.
Linux: run tar xzf Ringshadow-0.1.1-linux.tar.gz, then ./Ringshadow/Autocraft.sh.
Known issues
- Inside, the game keeps the project's old name, Autocraft: the executables have it, and so does the window's title (seen on Linux).

Install
macOS: unzip, drag Ringshadow.app into Applications and open it. It is signed and notarized by Apple.
Windows: unzip anywhere and run Ringshadow\Autocraft.exe. If it says a DLL such as VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing, install Microsoft's Visual C++ runtime (https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe) and run it again. SmartScreen may warn about an unknown publisher: More info → Run anyway.
Linux: tar xzf Ringshadow-a9e3d2e-linux.tar.gz, then ./Ringshadow/Autocraft.sh. Nobody has played the Linux build yet: tell us how it goes.
Known
- Windows has been played on an NVIDIA A10G at 2560×1378, 160+ fps (the build just before this one, which differs only in the home screen). The Mac build is the one the game is made on.
- The game keeps the project's old name inside: the executables are called Autocraft.
