Usage
This page is a “do this and it works” manual. Each scenario states its prerequisites, steps, expected result, and the places people most often get stuck.
Prerequisites
- The player is
human. - They hold
supernatural.player.shrineuse.vampire(granted to everyone by default). - You have OP or console access to hand out items.
1. Build the infect altar
On flat ground, lay a 5×5 base: a gold block in the centre and 24 obsidian around it (24 ≥ the default requirement of 20).
O O O O O
O O O O O
O O G O O
O O O O O
O O O O O
The gold block is the right-click target. The obsidian only needs to be numerous enough inside a radius-7 sphere; it does not have to form a square.
2. Prepare the materials
Use vanilla /give:
/give <player> mushroom_stew 1
/give <player> bone 10
/give <player> gunpowder 10
/give <player> redstone 10
3. Right-click the gold block
Expected chat order:
This altar looks really evil.
You use these items on the altar:
1 mushroom stew, 10 bone, 10 gunpowder, 10 redstone
The gold block draws energy from the obsidian... The energy rushes through you and you feel a bitter cold...
You are now a vampire!
The recipe line is sorted by quantity, so items with equal counts may appear in a different order; what matters is that all four materials and counts are right.
4. Verify
/sn power
→ You are a vampire and your current power level is: 10000
5. Turn back into a human
Elsewhere, lay a 5×5 glowstone base with a lapis block in the centre (24 glowstone around it). Bring 1 water bucket, 1 milk bucket, 20 sugar and 20 wheat, then right-click the lapis block.
Expected last line: You have been restored to humanity!
If it gets stuck
| Symptom | Cause |
|---|---|
| Right-clicking the gold block does nothing | No obsidian within radius 7 (count == 0 returns silently) |
| “doesn't seem to be enough obsidian” | Fewer than Vampire.Altar.Infect.Surrounding.Count (20) |
| “You cannot use vampire altars.” | Missing supernatural.player.shrineuse.vampire
|
| “This is of no use to you as you are already supernatural.” | The target is already another supernatural race |
1. Register a church
An admin stands beside the church altar:
/sn church add
→ Church registered at world,123,64,-45 (1 in total)
/sn church list
The altar only answers within 10 blocks of a registered church.
/sn setChurchalso works, but it clears every other church.
2. A human becomes a priest
Within the church area, place a diamond block (the quartz around it is decorative; the plugin only looks at the diamond block). Prepare:
4 gold ingots, 4 glowstone dust, 8 redstone, 30 bread
Right-click the diamond block. Expected:
The Church Altar radiates holy power.
You donate these items to the Church:
4 gold ingot, 4 glowstone dust, 8 redstone, 30 bread
The Church recognizes your holy spirit and accepts you into the priesthood.
You are now a priest!
3. A priest donates for power
As a priest, put apples/cod/cooked cod/cooked porkchop/bread in your inventory and right-click the diamond block. The plugin takes every donation item in the inventory at once and adds up the reward for each.
⚠️ Do not hold coal while right-clicking the altar: that triggers “insult the Church” and turns you back into a human.
4. Cast spells
The trigger is: hold the material and attack (left-click) a player.
| Goal | Hold | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Banish | Feather | Any supernatural player (needs a PvP area and a banish point) |
| Exorcise | Sugar | Any supernatural player |
| Purify | Flint | A supernatural player who also holds flint |
| Heal | Paper | A non-supernatural player below full health |
| Drain | Book | Any supernatural player |
| Guardian Angel | White wool | A non-supernatural player |
Set the banish point first:
/sn setBanish
→ Banish location set.
Then swing the feather at the target. Both sides receive a message with coordinates:
You were banished by <priest>!
You were banished to world (120, 70, -30).
5. Guardian Angel
Hit an ordinary player with white wool:
You now have a Guardian Angel!
The next lethal hit on that player is cancelled, they return to 20 HP, and the message Guardian Angel used! appears.
A non-priest supernatural who right-clicks the church diamond block dies on the spot. This is not a safe zone:
The holy power of the Church tears you asunder!
A ghoul has a 25% chance to be cleansed into a human; every other race simply dies.
1. Kill 3 different supernatural types as a human
- You must be
human(priest, witch hunter and angel do not count). - The 3
superTypes must be distinct; killing the same type twice counts once. - You must not die in between: a human death clears the recorded types.
2. Receive the invitation
Ten seconds after the third type:
You have been invited to join the WitchHunter society!
If you wish to accept this invitation visit a WitchHunters' Hall
3. Build the hall door
Place an iron door and a sign within a 5×5×5 box around it, with WitchHunter on any line (the default). Creating the sign requires supernatural.player.witchhuntersign.
4. Right-click the iron door to join
Welcome to the WitchHunter society!
You are now a witchhunter!
5. Check your bounties
/sn killlist
→ *** Current WitchHunter Targets ***
→ <name>
6. Use the bow
- Left-click the air with a bow to cycle the arrow type:
Changed to arrow type: fire - Draw and shoot; special arrows need a PvP area and the listed power.
- Kill a bounty target with more than 2,000 power → +2,000 base +8,000 bounty = +10,000.
7. Leave
Kill yourself by any means (your own arrow, a fall, etc.) → you return to humanity:
You have killed yourself!
This action, voluntary or not, has rescinded your status as a WitchHunter.
1. Enter the Nether
Wear full leather (helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots) and walk through a Nether portal. The plugin records the leather set during PlayerPortalEvent.
2. Die to fire or lava
Burn to death or fall into lava in the Nether. At death it checks again that the leather is still worn, then:
Hellfire races through your veins!
You are now a demon!
3. Daily life as a demon
- Standing in lava heals you and grants +40 power each tick.
- Outside the Nether and not standing in fire/lava: −20 power every 5 seconds.
- Left-click redstone to shoot a fireball; left-click an ink sac to place a cobweb.
4. Turn back into a human
Drown in water in a cold biome (snowy plains, taiga, frozen ocean, frozen river, snowy slopes, etc.) while carrying at least 30 snowballs:
Your icy death has cooled the infernal fires raging within your body.
You have been restored to humanity!
# Turn a player into a vampire directly (no altar needed)
/sn convert Steve vampire
# Add up to 9999 power (the total is then clamped to 0–10000)
/sn power Steve 9999
# Restore humanity (if the old race was priest, return to priest)
/sn cure Steve
# Clear power only, keeping the race
/sn reset Steve
# Remove a bounty and draw a replacement
/sn rmTarget Steve
# Save data.yml + config.yml
/sn save
# Reload config / player data
/sn reload config
/sn reload data
# Manage churches
/sn church add
/sn church list
/sn church remove
/sn church clear
Notes
-
/sn power,/sn setChurch,/sn setBanishand/sn restartTaskare player-only; the console is refused. - From the console,
/sn convertneeds two parameters:/sn convert <player> <type>. - With
supernatural.admin.infinitepower(OP by default), no power cost takes effect; confirm this before testing the power economy.
1. Start it
mvn -Pit package exec:javaThe first run downloads Paper to target/it/server/paper.jar and starts an offline-mode server.
2. Join
Connect to localhost:25565 with any name.
You spawn in a test hall: eight boards on the wall, one per race.
3. Interact
- Right-click a board to enter that race’s own world (the board itself is the trigger, not a button).
- Each room is one step. The far wall’s boards are actions (right-click), the near wall is a short explanation, the east wall is back/next/exit, and the red wool on the west wall is the exit button.
- The guide NPC in each room can be right-clicked repeatedly for the full explanation.
- The chests in a room usually contain the items and power that step needs.
4. Stop
Press Ctrl+C in the terminal that started it; the world is saved.
5. Run the automated scenarios
mvn verify -PitIt uses fake players to complete “vampire altar turning → cure altar back to human” and to check “are the stand-ins wearing the right skin”.
# 1. Unit tests
mvn test
# 2. Force a rebuild (avoids an old jar timestamp making the change look absent)
rm -f target/mmSupernaturals.jar
mvn -Pit package
# 3. Start the test server and check by hand
mvn -Pit package exec:java
# 4. Or run the full scenario suite
mvn verify -PitEvery time the test server starts it copies
target/mmSupernaturals.jarintotarget/it/server/plugins/. Restarting the server without repackaging leaves the old plugin in place. That is the most common reason a code change “does nothing”.
