CUTROOM 1.2 Beta - FFmpeg export hotfix

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

CUTROOM 1.2 Beta — FFmpeg 9 hotfix (v1.2-beta-20261019-hotfix1)

A clean Windows installation of the preceding beta selected FFmpeg 9.0.2. Setup and HTTP startup succeeded, but the first portrait export failed because FFmpeg rejected the legacy filter_complex_script option. The shared command also contained the legacy vsync option; that path was not separately reached by the failed guest export.

This hotfix addresses FFmpeg export compatibility. Its exact Windows archive passed fresh Windows 10 Sandbox setup with the documented prerequisites, two encoded portrait/landscape exports, automated output inspection and application-process restart with saved state/output bytes preserved. Automated native Mac checks passed on ARM64 and Intel; the separate Mac ZIP is a verified projection of the tested combined payload.

Application source: 0c28168999f3500092d1954b9a17419400648684. Native run: https://github.com/VanoPeradze/cutroom/actions/runs/39251933403.

  • Mac arm64: 69 offline checks; 348 feature tests; 50 required cases; 0 skips. Fresh install, missing-pip recovery and restart persistence passed. No model inference.
  • Mac x64: 69 offline checks; 348 feature tests; 50 required cases; 0 skips. Fresh install, missing-pip recovery and restart persistence passed. No model inference.

Remaining limits:

  • Windows automation used a fresh Windows 10 Sandbox with separately provisioned WinGet and Microsoft Visual C++ x64 prerequisites; this does not qualify physical Windows 11, SmartScreen or browser-download quarantine.
  • Windows restart checks stopped and relaunched the owned application process and compared saved state/export bytes; no operating-system reboot or graceful human UI quit was tested.
  • Automated native checks used no transcription/model inference and do not establish AI or speech accuracy.
  • Physical Mac Finder/Gatekeeper/Safari and representative English/Hebrew editing/listening acceptance remain pending.
  • Actual A/B recording alignment is not established by camera detection or controlled export checks; confirm a matching timestamp pair.
  • This is an authorized beta, not a fully qualified production release.

Rollback: v1.2-beta-20261019 and all earlier releases/files remain retained. The previous beta has the observed FFmpeg 9 export issue; rollback does not remove that limitation.

@VanoPeradze VanoPeradze released this 19 Oct 11:35

CUTROOM 1.2 Beta updates the editing workspace, custom audio mixer, direct clip controls, templates and caption-save protection. Camera readiness, weak-sync reporting and long Windows import paths are corrected. The website adds current editor screenshots and keyboard, focus, dialog and responsive accessibility improvements.

Application source is 7019b6423ce9d66531e933ee5cac42968f9e96e7. Windows, combined and source downloads preserve the qualified review bytes under clear dated names. The standalone Mac ZIP is the verified App/launcher projection of the tested combined package; it opens directly beside App.

Native macOS 15 validation passed on Apple Silicon and Intel. Each architecture passed 69 offline review checks, 348 extracted feature tests and all 50 required cases with zero skips, fresh installation, restart persistence and missing-pip recovery. The orchestration commit b28561c7a3d277e90381d2e720eb50ab2fe001fb selects the frozen App source; it is not a different application build. No models were downloaded or used.

Windows requires WinGet and Microsoft Visual C++ x64 runtime before setup. Fresh Windows installation of this new source has not been repeated; the October 18 Sandbox result applies only to that older source. Physical-device installation, Finder/Gatekeeper/Safari and representative English/Hebrew editing/listening acceptance remain pending. Transcription and model accuracy are unverified. Confirm matching timestamps between two recordings before relying on automatic A/B alignment.

This is an authorized beta with recorded limits. Keep originals and backups and extract the update into a separate folder. The October 18 release and its website deployment remain available for rollback.

CUTROOM 1.2 Beta, 18 October 2026

This source-based beta uses application commit fe35453. The three archives below are the exact tested review files, promoted without rebuilding or changing their bytes. Remaining qualification gaps are disclosed below; this is not a fully qualified production release.

Changes:

  • Preserve complete source speech and explicit role/context evidence in Story planning; stop on unsupported precision assignments or explicit refusals.
  • Keep the optional Short extractive rough cut off by default and visibly marked as requiring review.
  • Publish Windows stabilized copies safely from long temporary paths, preserving existing files and cancellation cleanup.

Verified: native macOS 15 run 39139136807 passed on Apple Silicon and Intel. Each architecture passed 69 maintainer checks and 340 feature checks, all 50 required cases with zero skips, fresh App dependency installation, missing-pip recovery and restart. No transcription or model download/inference was run. Dependency audit and CodeQL also passed for the same application source.

Windows first run: a fresh Windows 10 Sandbox with WinGet reached a native dependency load failure. The launcher does not install the required Microsoft Visual C++ x64 runtime. A separate fresh guest with WinGet 1.29.380 and Microsoft's signed x64 runtime 14.51.36247.0 completed setup and reported healthy CUTROOM 1.2 Beta, FFmpeg and FFprobe, with no models installed. This conditional setup/startup result does not qualify the default installer or physical-device/restart/UI acceptance. Install the official Microsoft x64 runtime before the launcher; Microsoft's download documentation explains the prerequisite. Retain existing projects before testing this beta.

Still unverified: representative transcription and model accuracy; human English/Hebrew Story, captions, mixer/listening acceptance; physical Mac Finder/Gatekeeper/Safari behavior; persistent physical-device restart and real-browser download prompts. Mac launchers are unsigned scripts, not signed or notarized applications. Python, FFmpeg, AI engines and model weights are not bundled. Model setup downloads remain off by default; selecting a missing speech model later can trigger its download.

Downloads: use the Windows archive on Windows. Mac users: extract the combined archive and open its mac/ folder. The SOURCE archive is the separately pinned source snapshot.

CUTROOM 1.2 Beta. Download the ZIP for your computer, extract all of it, and open the launcher beside App: START CUTROOM.bat on Windows, START CUTROOM.command on Mac. First setup needs internet. Extract 1.2 to a new folder and back up projects before moving them.

What's new

  • Captions are timeline items. Select, move, trim, hide and correct automatic captions. What was said fixes the transcript wherever that speech is used; Only this caption changes one caption. Long captions split at 84 characters.
  • Mixer you can trust. Typed levels and reset to 0 dB, preview loudness that follows the export, and an export limiter that keeps true peaks at or below −1 dBTP at 48 kHz. Normalized exports encode audio once.
  • Shorts closer to the length you ask for, with the length after each step when a draft is short. Gameplay drafts list their moments, mark weak ones Uncertain, and let you mark a replay or camera feed as Not live gameplay.
  • Text templates: Lower third, Chapter card, Callout and Highlight.
  • Export check: true peak, loudness, black picture, text over captions and long caption lines, after every export.
  • Layout fixes across the editor and the project overview.

CUTROOM 1.1 Beta — 2026-10-11 download migration

Choose a tag to compare

@VanoPeradze VanoPeradze released this 11 Oct 12:01

This release moves the existing CUTROOM 1.1 Beta installation ZIPs to GitHub Releases. The package bytes are unchanged from the downloads published on 10 October 2026. It is not a rebuild of the current repository head.

Download CUTROOM-1.1-Beta-Windows.zip or CUTROOM-1.1-Beta-Mac.zip, extract the entire archive, and open the launcher beside App and START HERE.html. The combined ZIP contains windows/ and mac/ folders. First setup requires internet; Python, FFmpeg and AI models are not bundled. Linux remains a source-only installation path.

Provenance and validation

  • Application source and release tag: 391971c028d69ace4682fcf8794682e085aa8803.
  • Combined build: CUTROOM-1.1-beta-mac-20261010-140324; frozen Windows build: CUTROOM-1.1-beta-20261010-140135.
  • Native Mac CI passed arm64 and x64 at validation head 6d96ec5ba8f94314a5b8735f32f20bc274bebf40. The validation head is distinct from the packaged application source.
  • Before migration, all three live Expo downloads and checksum sidecars were checked. The combined archive passed its inventory, frozen Windows baseline and shared application checks; each platform ZIP passed the repository's projection, manifest and file-permission checks.
  • These are source-based beta packages. Mac Finder, Gatekeeper and Safari manual QA remains outstanding; the Mac launcher is unsigned and not notarized. This migration does not claim new physical installation testing.
  • AI-selected continuity/endings still need review; default chroma settings can leave a thin green fringe.

Each ZIP has an attached .sha256 sidecar. GitHub's automatically generated source archives are repository snapshots, not the installation packages above.

The existing Windows mirror, Mac mirror and combined mirror remain available. The website will use tag-specific GitHub download links. Immutable recovery sources remain recorded in packaging/windows/release-baseline.json and packaging/mac/release-candidate.json on the maintained branch.

The README's GitHub downloads badge counts published installation ZIP asset downloads, including verification downloads and repeat requests. It excludes checksum files, source/test assets, drafts and Expo mirror traffic. It does not represent unique people or successful installations. Historical Expo HTTP requests are not imported into GitHub's count.
