General

A Scene is the main place of action. Any character has to switch scenes in order to advance through the game. It corresponds to a file (and parts of that file accessed by query parameters such as "op") in the main directory in the old game (village.php, armory.php, forest.php, etc).

A normal Scene consists of 3 parts:

  1. the title of the Scene (where is the user?),
  2. the description of the Scene (how does it look like?), and
  3. the actions (what can I do here?).

Switching a Scene triggers the server-side construction of the next scene. The results of that process are then saved as a CharacterScene, ready to be displayed by the user.

The Title

The title of the Scene should always be short and easy to recognize. Spoken in old terms - it is what used to be in the page_header()-Argument.

Examples:

  • The Forst
  • The Village
  • The Stables
  • Pegasus Armors

The Description

The description describes the scene. In general, a brief and rough description of the scene should be given in the first few sentences. Additional paragraphs can be used to describe the scene in more detail (are there other people, some remarkable buildings, what does MightyE do?).

Formatting

At the moment, Scenes are only supporting a double line break as the only formatting option. Double line breaks are used to separate paragraphs from each other.

In future, it will also supports variables (which are replaced before adding the text to the CharacterScene) as well as colours (which are rendered by the client).
