First tagged release of the View Descriptor Protocol working draft.

One JSON descriptor tells every client which templates render which data. The v0.1 specification is feature-complete:

  • View descriptor format — recursive slots, slot arrays, multiple named views, descriptor references, and advisory template metadata (type, integrity)
  • Transports — inline _view/_views (HAL-compatible), HTTP Link headers (RFC 8288, rel="view-descriptor"), the View-Template shorthand, and OData4 instance annotations
  • Template URIs as identifiers first — absolute, relative, or scheme-less opaque forms (Section 5.4); clients may satisfy them from an app bundle, page-shipped templates, a BFF-local store, or a network fetch (Section 6.3)
  • Discovery — OPTIONS headers, /.well-known/vdp served as application/vdp-discovery+json, and OpenAPI x-vdp
  • Security model — allowlist source chain, HTTPS for network retrieval, W3C Subresource Integrity
  • Conformance classes — VDP Server, VDP Client, and VDP BFF (Section 15)

Ships two JSON Schemas (2020-12 dialect) and CI-validated examples.
