WikiLens 1.4.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Ville-Mattila Ville-Mattila released this 09 Jul 14:18

New

  • Wikipedia's own text formatting in the popup — the first paragraph now renders with the article's real formatting: bold subject, italics for works and species names, and proper sub/superscripts (Einstein's E = mc² finally looks like a formula). The markup is rendered through a strict whitelist — inline formatting tags only, all attributes stripped — so nothing unsafe ever reaches the page.

WikiLens 1.3.1

@Ville-Mattila Ville-Mattila released this 05 Jul 09:16

Fixed

  • Dark Reader compatibility, for real this time — Dark Reader was half-recoloring the popup into an unreadable light-on-light card (it ignores darkreader-lock inside shadow roots). WikiLens now strips Dark Reader's injected styles from its popup and pins its palette with inline !important declarations, so the popup renders exactly as themed — Dark/Light/Auto — while Dark Reader keeps darkening the page around it.

WikiLens 1.3.0

@Ville-Mattila Ville-Mattila released this 05 Jul 09:02

Visual refinements and better coexistence with other extensions.

Changed

  • Images are shown whole — no more square cropping. Images keep their natural aspect ratio at full card width; very tall images letterbox against the theme background instead of being cut.
  • Softer, deeper card — corner radius doubled to 16px and the drop shadow strengthened for better lift off the page.

Fixed

  • Dark Reader compatibility — Dark Reader was repainting the popup and washing it out. The popup now carries a darkreader-lock marker so Dark Reader leaves it alone while continuing to darken the page (dynamic mode, Dark Reader 2023+).

WikiLens 1.2.1

@Ville-Mattila Ville-Mattila released this 05 Jul 08:35

Two small but important fixes.

Fixed

  • Toolbar icon invisible on dark themes — the 16/32px action icons were black artwork on a transparent background, which vanished on dark browser toolbars. They now sit on a white disc backplate that reads on both dark and light themes.
  • Text inside the popup can now be selected — pressing the mouse inside the popup used to dismiss it instantly (the press collapsed the page's selection, which triggered the auto-dismiss). Dismissal is now suspended during pointer interactions that start inside the popup, so you can select and copy the snippet, facts, and title. Clicking outside, clearing the page selection, and Esc still dismiss as before.
