CAVY 0.2.5
CAVY 0.2.5: a better AI assistant chat.
- Replies are formatted. The assistant's Markdown is rendered: headings, bold and italic, numbered and nested lists, tables, quotes and links (links open in your browser). Code sits in a dark block with the language and a Copy button.
- You and the assistant look different. Your messages are dark bubbles on the right; the assistant's replies have an icon and a name and use the full width. Three animated dots show while it is thinking.
- No jump to the bottom. After an answer arrives the chat scrolls to where the answer starts.
- The chat column is wider, and lab problems and instructions use the same renderer (tables, code blocks with Copy).
Not code-signed: the first launch is blocked once on each computer (see docs/DEMO_SETUP.md).

CAVY 0.2.4
CAVY 0.2.4: update notices appear the moment you open the app.
- The app now asks GitHub for the latest version every time it starts, instead of trusting an answer up to 12 hours old, so a new release shows its banner at the next launch.
- Everything from 0.2.3 (the version shown in the sidebar) is included.
Not code-signed: the first launch is blocked once on each computer (see docs/DEMO_SETUP.md).

CAVY 0.2.3: a small release to show the update notice.
- The sidebar now shows the version you are running (for example "CAVY 0.2.3") under the tagline.

CAVY 0.2.2
CAVY 0.2.2: teaching allotments, lab start times and a tidier "My class".
- Teaching (admin panel). Subjects per programme and semester (the MSc Data Science ones are built in). An administrator allots a subject, a division and a batch (or both batches) to a professor. A new Academic year card shows who sits in which year.
- Access follows the allotments (classroom server). A professor sees only the students allotted to them, with a count per allotment, and can aim labs only at the course, year, division and batch allotted to them. With nothing allotted, everything is switched off with a "waiting for your assignment" notice until an administrator allots them something. Professors no longer pick their own courses or add students to a class on a server.
- My class (professor). Search and Course / Division / Batch filters (including both batches) over a compact scrolling table, in the app's own style.
- Labs. An optional start time; "any batch" labs can be made once per batch with their own times; Duplicate copies a lab to another division, batch or time. Students see only labs from professors who teach them.
- Problem and instructions. A lab has a problem statement and separate instructions. Students see neither (nor the difficulty) until the assessment stage starts; they see the title and topic. Both are written in Markdown, rendered in a fixed-size scrolling panel. "Draft with AI" uses one saved prompt that produces both parts.

CAVY 0.2.1
CAVY 0.2.1: a better Users page, and email that works from the installed app.
- Users page (admin panel). Search by name, SAP ID, email or roll number; filter by programme, batch of, division, batch and status; a table that scrolls inside the page with a fixed header and one-line rows; the less common actions (reset password, disable, delete) sit in a "More" menu. Filters and the search survive the page refreshing itself.
- Email sending fixed. Sending a test email, first-login passwords and reset codes failed with "certificate verify failed: unable to get local issuer certificate" when the app did not know which certificate authorities to trust. It now uses the certificate list that ships with the app.
Not code-signed: the first launch is blocked once on each computer (see docs/DEMO_SETUP.md).

CAVY 0.2.0
CAVY 0.2.0: updates, matching versions and a polish pass.
- Update notice. The app now tells you when a newer CAVY is out and links to the download. It never installs anything by itself, and never interrupts a lab.
- One version per class. A server and the apps that connect to it must run exactly the same version; a different one is refused with a message saying which side to update. Hosting a server warns first when a newer version exists.
- Screen-by-screen QA fixes. The admin "Change teachers" button works again; labs and follow-ups reject impossible times and blank titles; double clicks no longer create duplicates; Reset asks before wiping code; dialogs work with the keyboard; clearer contrast, focus and layouts on small windows.
- College setup. Students are identified by SAP ID and admission year, and their year of study and semester follow the calendar (the academic year starts on 1 July), so everyone moves up by themselves. The administrator can load the six MSc and BSc programmes and import the college's student lists (SAP ID, name, roll number) in one step; divisions and batches are worked out from the sheets, and students sign in with their SAP ID.
- Start a class from a clean slate.
scripts/reset_database.pybacks up and clears a database (keeping the admins and settings), classroom servers no longer start with demo labs, andscripts/import_roster.pycan load the college's official list (names, emails, SAP IDs) as the truth, approving named people as teachers instead of students.

CAVY 0.1.0 (first installers)
CAVY classroom platform, built from commit 720b42a (7 October 2026 update).
What is in this build: lab mode (full screen, key lock, focus rule, paste detection), courses with level, department and ID, professors with several classes, stage-by-stage labs with Back/Next and a single submit, resources in the workspace, follow-up editing, AI drafting of problems, Groq and the other hosted AI providers, first-login and password-reset emails, structured logging, and a faster database pool (100 students at once without failures).
Not code-signed, so the first launch is blocked once on each computer:
- Windows: SmartScreen -> More info -> Run anyway.
- Mac (Apple Silicon only): click Done, then System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Open Anyway.
Full steps: docs/DEMO_SETUP.md. A tour of every screen: docs/CAVY-Application-Walkthrough.pdf.

Both installers were built and smoke-tested by GitHub Actions. Lab mode has been checked mostly on macOS; please report anything odd on Windows.
