Summary of changes since last update

Distribution + UX fixes. The release script now (a) creates a GitHub release on VisionPipe/visionpipe with the new DMG attached, and (b) bumps the homebrew tap (VisionPipe/homebrew-visionpipe) to the new version with the correct sha256 and updated bundle ID — so brew install --cask visionpipe ships the same version as the website's "Download for Mac" button. Also fixes the "Copied" overlay timing (now fires immediately on click instead of after the async clipboard work), removes the "pbcopy" jargon from the Copy button, and reduces the heavy box-shadow + border on the annotation card so it looks like a softer floating panel instead of a boxed-in rectangle.

Detail of changes made:

  • scripts/release.sh — Added two new steps:
    1. gh release create v$VERSION $DMG --repo VisionPipe/visionpipe (or gh release upload --clobber if the release already exists). Uses .release-notes.md body as the GitHub release notes.
    2. Clones/refreshes VisionPipe/homebrew-visionpipe into .homebrew-visionpipe/ (gitignored), updates Casks/visionpipe.rb with the new version + sha256, fixes the zap-path bundle IDs from ai.visionpipe.app → com.visionpipe.desktop (Tauri identifier renamed in v0.1.x), commits + pushes.
  • src/App.tsx — handleSubmit now calls setJustCopied(true) at the very top, before the async canvas + clipboard work runs. The user sees the "Copied" overlay instantly on click; previously the overlay only appeared after save_and_copy_image resolved (~150ms+).
  • src/App.tsx — Removed the "| pbcopy" suffix from the Copy to Clipboard button. pbcopy is the macOS CLI clipboard tool — geek shorthand that confused real users.
  • src/App.tsx — Annotation card's outer chrome reduced: removed the 1px solid border and downgraded the boxShadow from 0 25px 60px rgba(0,0,0,0.5), 0 0 0 1px rgba(46, 139, 122, 0.1) to a softer 0 4px 16px rgba(0,0,0,0.25). The card now reads as a floating panel rather than a hard-edged rectangle.

Potential concerns to address:

  • First-run of release.sh after this change clones the tap repo into .homebrew-visionpipe/; subsequent runs fetch + reset --hard origin/main. If anyone ever pushes manual edits to the tap and the script's reset wipes them, that's a footgun. Acceptable while only the script writes to the tap.
  • GitHub release creation requires gh CLI authentication. gh auth status shows we're authenticated as drodio. If the token rotates or scope changes, the release step fails and version drift returns. Worth adding a prerequisite check at the top of the script (gh auth status).
  • The cask still references https://github.com/VisionPipe/visionpipe as homepage: should probably be https://visionpipe.ai once the website is canonical. Not changing in this release; flag for later.
  • GitHub release notes are the same as the prd entry: that's fine for now but means we can't have a separate "marketing-friendly" version of release notes. If we want different prose for the GitHub release page (e.g., screenshots, gif demos), we'd need a separate notes file or a distinct section.
  • gh release upload --clobber fallback exists for re-runs: if the release already exists, we re-upload the DMG. But if the release exists with the WRONG sha256-matching DMG and the cask was already updated, brew users could see a mismatch. Acceptable risk; rare scenario.
