Pick a paper and run it: python -m qthermo reproduces five published results in about 15 seconds, printing qthermo's numbers next to each paper's.

pip install --upgrade "qthermo[plot]"
python -m qthermo all

  • fridge: Linden, Popescu & Skrzypczyk 2010, the smallest refrigerator
  • maser: Scovil & Schulz-DuBois 1959, the first quantum heat engine
  • cold-to-hot: Levy & Kosloff 2014, heat flowing from cold to hot
  • szilard: Sagawa & Ueda 2008, work from information
  • local-vs-global: Hofer et al. 2017, which master equation is right?

Also: the README is rewritten in plain language, and the full tour is now in docs/guide.md.

First release on PyPI: pip install "qthermo[plot]"

qthermo computes heat, work and entropy production for open quantum systems, checks models for known mistakes, and reproduces published results.

New in 0.6.0

  • redfield_bath: a bath model that stays accurate when energy levels are nearly degenerate, where the standard global model fails. Also available as master_equation="redfield" in build_model.
  • qt.papers.local_vs_global(): grades the local, global and Redfield master equations against the exact heat current of two coupled oscillators (Hofer et al., NJP 19, 123037 (2017)). Global is off by up to 25× at weak coupling, local by 10% when detuned, Redfield by at most 0.1%.
  • 44 benchmarks against published or exact results: python -m qthermo.benchmarks
