Pick up guild tasks at a Task Board, complete their objectives, and return to a board for your rewards. Your Task Journal keeps track of your work while you are away.
The default release includes 180 tasks, six guilds, five task tiers per guild, and 45 timed tasks. Each guild has 30 tasks, including two one-time finales. Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.242 or newer, and Java 21 are required. Install Taskbound on the server and every connecting client.
- Getting started: install the mod, find or craft a board, and get a journal.
- Task Board and journal: accept tasks, track progress, hand in items, and claim rewards.
- Guilds and reputation: unlock higher tiers, more offers, and level gifts.
- Task types and rules: timers, ordered objectives, crafting, fishing, combat, and other requirements.
- Full task catalog: all 180 default titles, their tiers, timers, and one-time tasks.
- Troubleshooting: missing boards, stalled progress, hand-ins, and configuration issues.
- Configuration: server limits, client preferences, editable files, and clean defaults.
- Tasks: change text and objectives, add tasks, or remove them.
- Task givers and categories: add or remove guilds and change progression.
- Rewards and currency: emeralds, Numismatics spurs, custom currency, reward pools, and level gifts.
- Objective reference: supported JSON types and requirements.
- Datapacks: apply overrides to one world.
The guides describe the shipped 1.0.0 defaults. A server or modpack can change the catalog, payouts, progression, and task limits.
The customization pages share a Village Watch example. Create these four files below config/taskbound/data/mytasks/, then run /reload as an operator after all four are saved:
| File | Complete example |
|---|---|
task_givers/watch.json |
Village Watch giver |
task_categories/watch/starter.json |
Starter category |
task_templates/watch/zombie_patrol.json |
Zombie Patrol task |
rewards/watch/emeralds.json |
Two-emerald reward |
The level gift file is optional. The example uses plain text, so it needs no translation pack. Its one task means the guild can offer only one distinct task until you add more.
