An independent, updated Stremio client for Apple devices: a fully native Apple TV app built on stremio-core, plus iPhone and iPad.
Stremio stopped updating its Apple builds after February 2026 and quietly pulled the download links, while the Android, Windows, and web apps kept moving. StremioX exists to close that gap. It is not affiliated with Stremio, and it takes nothing away from their apps. You sign in with your own account and bring your own add-ons.
- Installing: sideload the IPA on Apple TV, iPhone, or iPad.
- Building from Source: build the unsigned IPAs yourself.
- Roadmap: what is shipped and what is next.
- FAQ: unsigned builds, privacy, the bundled server, and more.
Apple TV is a fully native SwiftUI app running on stremio-core, the same Rust engine the official apps use, compiled straight in. Because the real engine does the work, your catalogs, library, and Continue Watching come out right. It plays in a native libmpv player (MPVKit), so TrueHD and Atmos, DTS-HD MA, HDR, and Dolby Vision actually play. As of 0.2.0 it skips intros and credits (crowd-sourced timestamps merged with chapter markers), ranks every source and plays the best one with a single press, draws movie and episode pages full-bleed, and ships eight accent themes plus a true-black OLED mode. The player has a seekable scrubber with hold-to-seek, smart audio and subtitle selection with sync, aspect modes, subtitle styling, auto-recovery on stream hiccups, an in-player source switcher, and resume.
iPhone and iPad host Stremio's live web interface and play the stream in the same native libmpv player, with a hand-off to Infuse or VLC. A native client on the engine is in progress.
