Troubleshooting

A new build does not seem to install

Some signing services and sideload flows cache by version, so reinstalling can quietly keep the old build. Delete the app first, then install, and confirm the version shown in Settings matches the release you downloaded. (Your sign-in and settings live in the account and the device Keychain, so a clean reinstall does not lose them.)

The app stopped opening after about a week

A free Apple ID signs for 7 days. Re-sign with the same method and Apple ID and it opens again with everything intact. A paid developer account or a signing service signs for a year. See Installing.

A stream will not start ("this source did not load")

  • Debrid or direct link: the link may have expired or the file may not be cached. Press the source list and pick another. Real-Debrid in particular purged its cache and throttles, so its sources rank last on purpose.
  • Torrent: a cold or poorly seeded swarm can take time, or have no reachable peers. The spinner shows a live peer count and speed; if it stays at zero peers, the swarm has nobody reachable and another source is the move. Torrents are also the least reliable path on Apple TV in general; debrid and direct links are steadier.

The streaming server shows offline, or torrents will not play at all

Apple TV has no force quit, so use the Restart button in Settings to bring the embedded server back. If you are on the Lite build, or have Direct Links Only turned on, torrents are disabled by design, that is expected. Debrid and direct links do not need the server.

HDR or Dolby Vision content looks washed out, or the TV badge never appears

Turn on Match Dynamic Range on the Apple TV: Settings, Video and Audio, Match Content, Match Dynamic Range. The app can only switch the display into HDR or Dolby Vision when the system allows it.

A Dolby Vision remux looks green or purple

A few displays mishandle Dolby Vision Profile 7. Open the player's Playback panel and turn on the HDR compatibility toggle, which tone-maps HDR and Dolby Vision down to clean SDR. It is off by default.

The official Stremio app shows "Serialization error: state.watched"

An early VortX build (0.2.7 to 0.2.9 build 30) briefly tried to sync profiles through the account's library storage, which could trip this in the official apps. Current builds scrub those documents from the account automatically on launch, which fixes the official apps too. Open this version of VortX once, then give the official app a minute to resync.

Playback is choppy or stalls on 4K

The player keeps a read-ahead buffer sized to what the Apple TV can hold, and reloads in place if the picture freezes. If a particular source keeps stalling, switch to another from the source list (one press from the failed-stream screen, or the in-player switcher). A weak network or an overloaded debrid host is usually the cause rather than the app.
