----SETUP INSTRUCTIONS START----

STEP 1: Scroll to the bottom of this page and download the .bps patch file for the version you want from the file list below.

STEP 2: Get the original unpatched game ROM as a file in .gbc or .gb format, international english, Red Version or Blue Version depending on the version you want to play. Search it up online or ask your friends how to get it. You can dump an official cart for example, but there are other ways as well! If you want to play PureGreen, get the original Blue Version ROM file.

STEP 3: Use an online patcher or the software Floating IPS to patch the original game. Basically, you are applying the .bps patch file to the original game's .gb or .gbc file.

STEP 4: Open the resultant .gbc or .gb file with software that can run .gbc or .gb files to play the game.

Always use these patch files on the original game's .gbc or .gb file. Don't try to use any on a game that's already been patched, or a previous version of PureRGB. It won't work.

QUALITY OF LIFE

  • 2x CPU mode was used during sprite uncompress in battle, speeding up sprite loading in battle.

BUGFIXES

Fixes for Bugs in the original game:

  • BUG: Using escape rope (or pocket abra) when standing on a warp pad you just arrived onto from a teleport from another area, part of the animation of warping away is skipped. FIX: Check for an escape warp earlier in this code.

Fixes for Bugs I caused:

  • BUG: Talking to NPCs to the right, left, or below you when standing in the same position as you need to stand to talk to the pokecenter nurse after talking to the pokecenter nurse can make text show up incorrectly in that specific scenario. FIX: Increase specificness for pokecenter nurse retalk prevention code.
  • BUG: In specific scenarios encounters can get disabled in the safari zone when loading a save file. FIX: fix typo in code from refactor.
  • BUG: Moltres is stupidly hard to catch in cinnabar volcano without a hyper ball or master ball. FIX: Its catch rate was lowered too much by accident when originally implementing the volcano.
  • BUG: In the status screen it can display APEX for a pokemon when they don't have maxed DVs. FIX: fix error in max dv check code.
