First public release of VoxSnip, a Linux area screenshot and on-screen OCR utility from Voxon Labs.

Shortcuts

  • Alt+S — select a region and copy the image
  • Alt+W — select a region and copy recognized text

On GNOME 50 / Wayland, capture uses the desktop screenshot portal. Choose Selection, then drag.

OCR runs locally with Tesseract. Alt+W leaves text only; it does not keep the screenshot.
