HomeWindow 0.4.7
- A tile shows only the details you chose. A device without its own state, such as a car charger without on/off, showed temperature and humidity as its status, with your chosen details after them. Now the details you pick take their place.
- Notifications say HomeWindow again. On some PCs, Windows titled HomeWindow's notifications "NotifyIconGeneratedAumid_…". HomeWindow now registers its own name and icon with Windows.
- EV charger. An EV charger gets its own card on the Energy page, with the power going into the car and, if the charger reports it, the car's charge. The totals show what the car charged today and this month. It can also be shown in the taskbar widget while the car charges: Settings → Appearance → What the taskbar widget shows → EV charger.
- The taskbar strip is now called the taskbar widget, also in the settings.
- Device icons from Homey. Devices show the icon they have in Homey, including one you picked in the Homey app. An icon you choose in HomeWindow still comes first. Switch it off under Settings → Appearance → Icons from Homey.
HomeWindow 0.4.6
- Choose which solar devices count. If Homey has more than one solar device for the same panels, such as an inverter and a kWh meter on it, HomeWindow added them up and showed too much solar and too much house use. With two or more solar devices, the Energy page now has Solar counts from, where you switch off the ones that are counted twice. The live numbers and the kWh totals both follow it.
- Larger text in the taskbar strip. Settings → Strip text → Large.
HomeWindow 0.4.5
- Scroll by touch. On a touchscreen you can now scroll every page and list by dragging it with one or two fingers, instead of only with the thin scroll bar. Sliders still respond to a sideways drag, and the window no longer shifts when you drag past the end of a list.
HomeWindow 0.4.4
- Grid meters are no longer added together. If you have more than one meter on the same supply, such as a P1 reader and a smart meter, HomeWindow used to add their readings up and showed too much power. It now uses one meter as the grid: it picks the best one itself, and with two or more meters the Energy page has a Meter for the grid choice. The kWh totals use the same meter.
- The list of devices using power follows Homey Energy. A device that Homey Energy leaves out is no longer counted here either.
- Collapse all and Expand all on the Flows page, like on the Devices page.
HomeWindow 0.4.3
- Sign in with your Homey account. Adding a Homey no longer needs an API key: Settings → Homey → Sign in to Homey… opens Homey's sign-in page in your browser, and HomeWindow then fills in your Homey by itself. Only an encrypted key to reconnect is kept, never your password. This also works for a Homey that cannot create API keys, such as the Homey Pro (Early 2019). A few parts still need an API key, because Athom does not give those rights to apps that sign in with an account: the system page, updates, restarting apps, deleting notifications and the weather. A Homey you already added keeps its API key.
- A clearer message when a firewall or virus scanner blocks the connection to your Homey, instead of a Windows socket error.
- When the connection test fails, it now also shows what Homey itself says, such as a missing permission.
HomeWindow 0.4.2
An update to the alpha, with thanks to everyone who left feedback on the Homey Community forum.
- PIN lock. Keep colleagues and guests on your laptop away from your home: Settings → Security → Set a PIN (4 to 12 digits). HomeWindow then asks for it at start-up, when Windows locks, after a while without use (15 minutes by default) and with Lock now in the settings or the tray menu. A padlock at the top of the panel and the main window pauses the lock without forgetting the PIN. The PIN itself is never stored, only a salted hash.
- Your Homey favourites. HomeWindow now takes over the favourite devices and flows from the Homey app the first time it connects, so a new installation no longer starts empty. Settings → General → Import adds them again later. Nothing is removed, and nothing is written back to Homey.
- Extra small tiles: Settings → Appearance → Tile size → Extra small, four tiles a row in the panel by the clock.
- Collapse all and Expand all for the rooms are now also in the panel by the clock, not only in the main window. An empty favourites tab explains what it is for.
- The taskbar strip after a restart. When Windows refuses HomeWindow a place in the taskbar, which happened after closing and starting it again, the strip now sits on top of the taskbar instead of disappearing. It hides for full-screen apps and an auto-hidden taskbar.
- The installer speaks English on a Windows in a language it has no translation for, such as German. It used to fall back to Dutch.
HomeWindow 0.4.1
A small update to the alpha.
- Energy at the left of the taskbar. With the taskbar icons in the centre (the Windows 11 default), the energy strip next to the clock got in the way of your apps on a full taskbar. It now sits at the very start of the taskbar, after the Widgets button. Prefer it by the clock? Settings → Appearance → Place on the taskbar → Right. When your taskbar icons are aligned to the left, or it does not fit, it stays on the right.
- Choose what the strip shows, and show the weather in it: Settings → Appearance → What the strip shows → Weather, Use, Solar, Grid and Home battery. The weather is off by default.
- Always-on devices. A socket set to Always on in Homey's energy settings shows "Always on" and no longer offers an off switch, since Homey refuses to turn it off anyway. Before, the switch jumped back with a message about API key rights, which was wrong. Other refusals by Homey now show Homey's own explanation too.
- Neater installs and updates. The setup now asks HomeWindow to close itself instead of ending it by force, updates are downloaded to HomeWindow's own folder instead of the Windows temp folder, and the app and setup carry full version information.
- HomeWindow now remembers when it first ran on a PC.
- A

HomeWindow 0.4.0 – first alpha
The first public alpha of HomeWindow: control your Homey Pro from the Windows taskbar. HomeWindow is free for non-commercial use, and it is still young, so expect rough edges. Every report helps: open an issue and attach the log (Settings → Updates → Open log).
Download HomeWindow-Setup-0.4.0.exe below, or from the website. Windows may say the publisher is unknown (the installer is not code-signed yet): choose More info → Run anyway. Already running an earlier version? HomeWindow updates itself.
New in this version
- Home battery in the totals – charging no longer counts as use, and discharging does. The energy page shows what the battery charged and discharged today and this month, and its charge level. The taskbar shows the charge level next to use, solar and grid, green while charging.
- Alarm notifications – a Windows notification when a smoke detector, water sensor, doorbell or other alarm goes off. Motion and doors can notify too, if you switch that on (Settings → General).
- Reorder favourites – right-click a favourite device or flow: Earlier in favourites / Later in favourites. Devices that were removed from Homey no longer block a move.
- Open log – Settings → Updates opens the log file, to attach to a bug report.
- Much faster with large homes – the device lists keep their tiles when a device is renamed or moved, instead of rebuilding them all. Stress-tested with 1500 devices, 750 flows and a Homey that drops, stalls and sends garbage: no crashes, no leaks, and the app stays responsive.
- License – HomeWindow is now under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0: free to use, change and share, but not for commercial purposes.

HomeWindow 0.3.0 – first beta

New in this version
- Tiles like the Homey app – a round quick-action button in the colour of the device, a coloured state (on, power, music, heating, locked) and a click on the tile opens the details. Choose per device which measurement the tile shows, plus an optional second one.
- Three tile sizes – Small, Normal and Large, tested in the main window and the panel.
- Energy on the taskbar – use, solar and grid next to the clock; returned power shows as a negative number in green, everywhere in the app.
- Dashboard style – the look of the Homey energy dashboard, with a soft glow in the colour of where your power comes from right now. It is the new default.
- Energy page – a new layout with equal blocks and less empty space.
- App icons on the System page, in each app's brand colour.
- Rooms inside other rooms line up with the rest on the Devices page.
- The processor meter is gone from the System page.
