@Warysek Warysek released this 12 Oct 14:20

New in 0.8.4

  • Batch backup: back up a box of disks one after another into numbered images (disk-001.st, disk-002.st…); the format is chosen in "Save as type" and remembered; a disk that wasn't swapped is detected
  • Drag an image file from Explorer onto the window to open it
  • Format dialog explains the experimental repair format and why it may be unavailable
  • "Support development" button (Ko-fi)

Download DisketteToolkit-0.8.4.zip below, unzip and run DisketteToolkit.exe. The exe isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen or some antivirus may warn about it.

Diskette Toolkit 0.8.3

@Warysek Warysek released this 11 Oct 11:33

First public test version of Diskette Toolkit.

Download: DisketteToolkit-0.8.3.zip below → unzip → run DisketteToolkit.exe (administrator rights are needed for direct drive access). Requires .NET Framework 4.8 (built into Windows 10/11). Try it without hardware: DisketteToolkit.exe --demo.

The program is not digitally signed yet — if Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click More info → Run anyway.

What it does

  • Back up floppies to images (.ST, .MSA, .IMG, .DIM, .ADF, flux .SCP/.HFE) and write images back with verification
  • Format for Atari ST, PC, MSX, Mac HFS, Amiga CrossDOS, Amstrad PCW, MINIX, ext2
  • Surface test with a FastCopy-style live sector map, FAT check and safe repair
  • Boot disks: FreeDOS, MS-DOS from your own Windows, Amiga bootblock, Atari AUTO folder, RawWrite
  • Works with USB floppy drives, internal drives with fdrawcmd.sys (Atari 800–900 KB, extra tracks, step rate) and Greaseweazle (Amiga, Mac GCR, flux, protected games)
  • English and Czech UI

New in 0.8.3

  • USB floppy drives: the program tells you whether the drive supports 720 KB (DD) disks — some USB drives don't
  • Experimental repair format (internal drive + fdrawcmd.sys): a defect on a track is covered by an extra sector instead of being marked bad in the FAT

Status

Tested with simulated drives and controllers; real-hardware testing is in progress. Feedback is very welcome in Issues — please include the Windows version, drive type and the log (right-click the log → Save log to file…).
