v0.1.0 — SketchUp Path Tracer

Choose a tag to compare

@WayneAl WayneAl released this 09 Jul 08:47

First release of the SketchUp Path Tracer: a thin Ruby SketchUp extension driving a standalone Rust path-tracing engine.

Highlights

  • Rust engine (su_render) — Monte Carlo path tracer: rayon-parallel, BVH-accelerated, global illumination, soft shadows, anti-aliasing. JSON scene in, PNG out.
  • Ruby extension — SketchUp API traversal + HtmlDialog UI (settings, live progress, save). Worker-thread render keeps SketchUp responsive.
  • One contract — a documented scene JSON schema is the only coupling.
  • Tested — 37 Rust tests + 18 Ruby tests, including a real end-to-end Ruby→Rust→PNG seam test. CI green.

Binaries

This release's workflow attaches prebuilt su_render binaries so you don't need Rust:

  • su_render-darwin-arm64 (macOS Apple Silicon)
  • su_render-win-x64.exe (Windows x64)
  • su_render-linux-x64 (Linux x64)

Drop the binary into sketchup_plugin/su_pathtracer/bin/<platform>/, then copy the plugin into your SketchUp Plugins folder. See the README.
