DSPi Console v1.1.5
First full release of v1.1.5, collecting the whole v1.1.5 beta series into one build.
The folder layout has changed. The release now holds a single DSPiConsole.exe at the top level, with the application and everything it depends on in an app subfolder. Extract the whole folder and keep its structure intact, then run DSPiConsole.exe exactly as before. Existing shortcuts and taskbar pins keep working, because the executable you launch has the same name and sits in the same place.
New since v1.1.5-beta6
- First-order low and high pass filters: new 6 dB per octave low and high pass PEQ types, alongside the existing 12 dB ones. Both are defined by frequency alone, with no resonance.
- Cut filters renamed: low pass and high pass are now named for what they remove, so the filter type picker reads Low Cut and High Cut at 6dB and 12dB. This matches the shelf and all pass entries, which were already labelled by slope.
- Fourth selectable S/PDIF input: how many S/PDIF inputs exist is now the device's answer rather than an assumption, so three-input and four-input firmware each present exactly what they have across the source list, the instance selector and the RX pin cards. Preset files carry four S/PDIF pins, and importing one onto a device with fewer lists the extras as rejected instead of dropping them quietly.
- Upmixer centre mode Off: the centre engine can now be switched off, which leaves left and right bit-exact and silences the derived centre row without withdrawing it, so routing that already points at that row is left alone. The Matrix Mixer labels it "Upmix C (off)" and the centre controls collapse while it is off.
- Control Surfaces: loudness reference SPL and loudness intensity can now be bound to a control, and the IR remote command table doubles from 8 to 16 buttons.
What's new in v1.1.5
Everything below has accumulated across the v1.1.5 betas and is new relative to v1.1.4.
- Expanded channel model: the app speaks the firmware's unified 17-channel model, with input expansion and dynamic USB input channels (up to 8 on RP2350, the count read from Windows Core Audio). Sidebar rows compact as the input count grows.
- Crossover filters: per-output high-order crossovers (Linkwitz-Riley, Butterworth, Bessel), edited by Family, Type, Slope and Frequency, and drawn in the frequency-response graph to match the device's actual filter design. A translucent filter status bar carries PEQ and XO tabs plus Enable All and Bypass All, and the output gain/delay card stays pinned while the filter list scrolls.
- Stereo upmixer: new Upmixer window (Ctrl+Shift+U) deriving centre and surround channels from a stereo input, with Sinner and Logician engine modes, centre and surround conditioning, and a live telemetry strip that says why the upmixer is parked when it is. Inapplicable controls hide rather than grey out, and the Matrix Mixer labels the derived rows while it runs. RP2350 only.
- Preset files: Import and Export are now submenus with a Preset File entry alongside Filters. A preset file holds the whole device configuration: input preamps, volumes, input source, loudness, crossfeed, the volume leveller, psychoacoustic bass, the upmixer, every channel's name, delay, gain, mute and enable state with its EQ and crossover bands, all matrix crosspoints, and the physical I/O wiring. Volume levels and I/O configuration are separate opt-ins when importing, off by default, and anything the connected device cannot accept is listed in the result rather than dropped quietly.
- Matrix mixer multichannel support: one routing row per active input, tracking the selected source's channel count, labelled by the sidebar channel names. Routes on inputs 3 to 8 sync from the device, update live and register in preset dirty tracking.
- ADAT input and output: a new ADAT Input settings page that warns when the clock is free-running, and a Bulk Output page for sending channels out over ADAT.
- Additional S/PDIF inputs: several extra S/PDIF inputs can be enabled and chosen as input sources.
- I2S input: selectable as an input source, with a Hardware I2S Input page carrying a conflict-aware RX data pin picker and a master sample rate of 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz, plus master and slave clocking and clock-pin modes.
- Psychoacoustic bass: new processing block with a sidebar shortcut icon.
- New PEQ filter types: Linkwitz Transform on output channels, edited in a popover with Cancel and Apply and a live readout of the resulting DC boost, plus first-order shelves and all pass. The type picker groups orders and labels them by slope.
- Control surfaces and IR remote: new Control Surfaces window with cards that update in place, bindings for the upmixer, psychoacoustic bass, per-output delay and preset reload. Channel targets show your own channel names and relabel live when you rename one, and enum parameters get labelled pickers in both the binding and IR command editors.
- UART and I2C control interfaces: new Control Interfaces page, shown only when the device reports control-interface support.
- Onboard test signal generator: waveform selection with per-waveform icons.
- Channel Identify: right-click an output channel in the sidebar and choose Identify to play a short ID chirp on that output alone, to find the physical speaker.
- Phase response: the frequency-response graph can display phase. Legend pills are uniform width and wrap onto multiple rows.
- Graph: gain affects displayed level: new Graphing Style toggle, on by default, controlling whether each channel's curve is offset by its output gain or input preamp. Input preamp is reflected in the graph for the first time; turn it off for the pure filter response.
- Filter lists: Ctrl to scroll-edit: the mouse wheel over PEQ and crossover value fields only changes the value while Ctrl is held, so a bare wheel scrolls the list without accidental edits.
- Multichannel processing: loudness, leveller, crossfeed and psychoacoustic bass all work across the expanded channel set, with per-channel detector and apply masks.
- Per-pair PEQ linking: all four input pairs can link PEQ edits, and inputs 3 to 8 gained the preamp and clear-filters header card.
- Dashboard: cards follow renamed channels, pair correctly when a left channel is disabled (an unpaired right channel gets its own mono card), keep gain, delay and muted text updating after an output toggle, and follow the active input set rather than a fixed stereo pair. Channel visibility persists between sessions.
- Live updates: device push notifications for matrix, pins, input config and more update the UI in place.
- Preset "Save to...": right-click a preset with unsaved changes to save the modified state into another slot and switch to it, leaving the original untouched.
- Settings consolidation: the former Volume, Startup and Output-configuration pages became a single General Globals page, and the hardware pages were renamed and reordered. The save-to-device prompt is now a bottom sliding overlay.
- Import, export and channel copy/paste now include crossover filters.
Known issues
- A channel muted from the main window rather than the matrix mixer can be written into a preset file as unmuted, until the app next re-reads the device.
- Output channel pairs cannot yet be linked.
- The routing preview for output channels currently only displays the first two routed input channels.
- The system master-mode sample rate setting is currently located on the I2S Configuration page, despite affecting other systems.
Fixes
- Control Interfaces: the UART and I2C sections showed their default settings instead of the ones stored on the device, with Apply and Revert lit as though edits were waiting, whenever the device was configured to anything other than those defaults. The Active and Inactive labels are now kept current while the page is open, rather than only being read when the page was first opened or a configuration applied, and reconnecting no longer leaves the previous device's settings on the page.
- Linkwitz Transform: the settings popover no longer closes when moving between its fields, and it now has Cancel and Apply buttons, defers edits until applied and rejects out of range entries. Switching a band into or out of Linkwitz Transform clears the settings that cannot carry over: the transform stores its target frequency in the gain field, so a 30 Hz target used to become 30 dB of boost on the filter type you switched to.
- S/PDIF sources: the bulk read's input-source list dropped S/PDIF 2 and 3, so a device sitting on one read back as unrecognised, and the preset change list labelled every S/PDIF 2, 3 and 4 and ADAT source "USB".
- Fixed a device scan re-entrancy bug behind perpetual reconnect churn. Where opening the device took longer than the scan interval, overlapping scans each tore down the connection the previous one had just made, so the app showed "device not connected" despite healthy USB traffic.
- Fixed a crash on connect caused by the device reporting an input source the app did not recognise.
- Fixed a race condition that sometimes prevented output channels from loading on connect, along with stale input parameters on connect and a spurious output-configuration pending change.
- Millisecond values in control surface bindings were encoded as plain integers, so a 5 ms output delay reached the device as 0.02 ms and the range displayed as 0 to 10752 instead of 0 to 42 ms.
- Signal generator: repeat 0 means infinite for sweeps as well as patterns, sweeps honour the gap setting, and the walk flag switches the timing rows it actually affects. A device that has never staged a config no longer presents full scale as the starting level or rejects a sweep outright. Level edits commit on Enter or focus loss instead of applying part-typed values, an empty channel selection explains itself rather than failing silently, and closing the window stops the generator.
- Filter files: export no longer loses Linkwitz Transform bands, first-order shelves and all pass filters, or per-band bypass. Import can reach input channels 3 to 8, which the exporter had been writing and the import dialog silently discarding, and it reports any channels a file carries that this device does not have.
- Sidebar: clicking either half of a linked input pair returns to the dashboard instead of switching to the partner's page, and the bass clef icon is sized to match the icons around it.
- Source picker: a disabled ADAT input is hidden from the source list entirely rather than shown greyed out, and the list updates immediately when ADAT is enabled or disabled.
- Fixed a stale plot clip when toggling the phase display; the pop-out button stays clear of the phase axis.
