Summary

Mooncite 4.0.5 is a reliability and release-quality update for local citation-backed recall across Pi, OMP, Claude Code, Codex, and ChatGPT history.

What changed

  • Made recall citations stable across refreshes, rebuilds, restarts, and all five source adapters; inspection reopens a bounded verified physical source window.
  • Hardened transactional indexing, mutable OMP/Claude Code/Codex/ChatGPT replacement, Pi append-trust reporting, source containment, and last-good recovery.
  • Strengthened install, registration ownership, rollback, disable, uninstall, and purge behavior for Pi, OMP, Codex, and Claude Code.
  • Fixed real OMP linked-plugin removal when the compiled OMP client has no standalone bun executable.
  • Recognized the real Claude Code missing-registration response so fresh installs configure Claude Code instead of reporting it unavailable.
  • Streamed ChatGPT exports without first materializing a complete large export, tightened bounded MCP presentation, and simplified redundant engine and lifecycle paths.
  • Reworked README, architecture, protocol, operations, security, repository guidance, and historical release notes around observable product behavior.

Verification

  • Typecheck, build, and 46 focused tests pass.
  • Packed install/MCP/disable/reinstall/uninstall/purge smoke passes with source history unchanged.
  • A disposable real-client transition used installed Pi 0.84.2, OMP 17.3.0, Codex 0.144.3, and Claude Code 2.1.214: tagged 4.0.4 was removed, packed 4.0.5 installed, all four registrations were exact, status was ready/full_verified, recall found the retained Pi evidence, inspect verified it, and source, unrelated config, and SQLite bytes remained unchanged.
