SandboxYourFox-123.0.0
Firefox binaries have been updated to 123.0.0. Many weeks of troubleshooting have gone into making this release the most stable release yet by fixing all known crashes that I am aware of. Most of the time was spent trying to figure out what the actual root cause of specific crashes was and after that it was pretty quick to come up with fixes.
As a bonus (and required by one of the fixes), uBlock Origin is included (via policy) by default and working automatically.
Fixed all of the crashes that I am currently aware of:
-
Fixed crashes related to websites utilizing Cloudflare Turnstiles by disabling
browser.tabs.remote.useCrossOriginOpenerPolicyin the updateduser.jsprefs file. -
Fixed crashes that were happening whenever you are logged into GitHub. This took a long time to track down. It ended up being related to the
github.githubassets.com/assets/socket-worker-*.jsscript in how it utilizes a SharedWorker to load the script into a background tab. That simply does not work withMOZ_FORCE_DISABLE_E10Sand causes the browser to crash.
The only way to fix the GitHub (SharedWorker) crashes was to have uBlock Origin installed with a custom filter single line *##+js(set, SharedWorker, noopFunc) that disables SharedWorkers in general. This workaround fixes all of the crashes on GitHub that were occurring. Workaround fix credit to: arkenfox/user.js#1180 (comment)
In order to streamline the entire process for SandBoxYourFox and to ensure that any workarounds to fix crashes are included out-of-the-box, I have included a policy file policies.json. This ensures that uBlock Origin is included automatically and also has a policy to include the filter rule fixes the GitHub (SharedWorker) crashes. That filter rule automatically goes to the My filters tab of uBlock Origin settings.
I also have it setup so that uBlock Origin is enabled in Private Browsing mode by default since that is crucial because SandBoxYourFox is primarily used in Private Browsing Mode.
