Built with Go 1.26.9. Go 1.25 left support when Go 1.27.0 shipped on
2026-08-19, so v2.16.0 (built with go1.25.14) lacks the 2026-10-08
standard library fixes in net/http, html/template, net/textproto and crypto/tls. Among them are HTTP/2 server bugs, including a crash, that a
client can reach on the dashboard port before logging in when TLS is on
(SENTINEL_TLS_CERT/SENTINEL_TLS_KEY or SENTINEL_TLS_AUTO). Go 1.26.9
carries the same fixes as Go 1.27.2 without 1.27's platform changes, so
macOS 12 binaries and existing GODEBUG settings keep working.
Bumped google.golang.org/grpc v1.79.3 to v1.84.0. Two of the four
advisories it clears (GHSA-vp52-pcj8-j9qc, heap exhaustion, and GHSA-hrxh-6v49-42gf, HTTP/2 rapid reset bypass) are reachable on the
cluster gRPC port before a client certificate is checked, when cluster
mode is on. The other two (GHSA-2v4p-qf9q-27wj, GHSA-qc2q-p7wx-3px3) affect
only xDS servers, which Sentinel does not run. A v2.16.0 agent still
connects to a v2.16.1 server, and the other way round.
Bumped golang.org/x/net to v0.61.0, golang.org/x/text to v0.43.0 and golang.org/x/crypto to v0.58.0. None of their advisories is called from
Sentinel's code; the bumps clear module-level scanner findings.
The image now uses alpine:3.24 (3.21 reaches end of support on
2026-11-01) and runs apk upgrade at build time, so OpenSSL and zlib carry
their latest security revisions. The binary is static (CGO_ENABLED=0) and
links neither.
Fixed
A pull that failed after the daemon started streaming progress (a layer
download or extract error, a dropped connection, a full disk) was treated
as a success, because Docker client v0.2.2 ignored errors reported inside
the stream. An unchanged tag was then recorded as identical and its digest
cached, hiding the update until the remote digest changed again. Updated
the Docker client to v0.6.2, which returns the error.
Changed
Sentinel now checks the Docker Engine API version at startup and exits
with a clear message below API 1.44 (Docker Engine 25.0). Older engines
never worked: the previous client sent every request at a newer API
version, which they rejected. The new client would talk to them, but they
refuse to create a container on several networks at once, which would
leave such a container removed after a failed update.
Building from source needs Go 1.26 or later (go.mod asks for toolchain
go1.26.9, which GOTOOLCHAIN=auto downloads).
CI: golangci-lint v2.14.0, GitHub Actions moved off the removed Node 20
runtime, every Go build pinned to the toolchain in go.mod, and a
govulncheck job on every push plus a weekly scheduled run on GitHub.
