5tratumOS 0.8.2 — Mux Flight and Orbit refinements

Mux Flight is now an optional download for licensed 5tratMux users. Orbit and 5TRATUSPHERE remain available without the flight download. Graphics render in the browser viewing the node, with Efficient, Balanced and High settings and a browser compatibility check before download.

  • Fly in Spectate, Manual, Assisted or guided Autopilot, switch between miner craft, and recruit a formation. Spectate displays the selected miner’s planned allocation separately from its current destination. Miner control requires a compatible 5tratMux runtime and an active licence.
  • Explore deep space, planetary orbit and surface flight, including ice canyons, with staged forward warp travel and a dedicated Warp control.
  • Watch Theatre’s changing fleet perspectives, with fleet analytics, view and spacecraft-label options, music shuffle, and audio controls. Theatre preserves the captain’s selected control mode while presenting the camera tour.
  • Distinct cockpit frameworks and craft, more varied fragments, improved draw distances, and cockpit laser occlusion make the fleet easier to follow.
  • Heavy firing increases shot frequency. Nearby fleet weapons and engines use distance-sensitive effects; interrupted browser audio can be resumed from the controls. The optional feature contains 27 classical music tracks and internet-radio controls.
  • Orbit app windows can open in a separate tab. Right-clicking selectable configuration text retains normal browser copy behavior. Resource warnings and telemetry freshness handling are refined.
  • Local AI settings and service integration are included. New runtime/model downloads are not published with this OS release; existing configured installations retain their separately managed runtime.

Installation and compatibility

Install v0.8.2 from Settings → Updates on the MAIN channel. Mux Flight is downloaded and enabled separately through its setup panel. Its archive is 152,224,152 bytes (about 145.2 MiB); its installed payload is 154,730,472 bytes (about 147.6 MiB). The OS archive remains about 56 MiB and excludes the flight media/models.

5tratMux and Local AI runtimes are independently versioned. This OS update does not force a MUX reinstall, downgrade, licence change or trial activation. The Mux Flight-compatible native runtime used during private review has not yet been publicly released. Temporary miner-allocation and recruitment controls require that separate compatible 5tratMux update; the current public runtime must not be treated as providing those controls.

The OS archive follows the established SHA-256 checksum verification convention. No trust keys or signature-enforcement settings are changed. Administrators who require signed OS archives should retain that requirement; this release has no detached OS signature.

Validation and operational notes

The final audio/coordinator/dashboard suite passed 287 tests; focused flight regressions and the new fleet-frequency/distance check passed. The OS translation release gate passed. The public feature’s 59 runtime files are byte-identical to the reviewed installed feature. The final live user check confirmed Autopilot working; a further uninterrupted timed endurance run was not completed.

Active flight control uses temporary leases. Return control to MUX before OS service maintenance: seamless continuation across an OS daemon restart is not provided by this release. Browser audio may require an explicit user gesture after interruption.
