William Garrow

Engineering leader and applied ML practitioner working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, healthcare, and enterprise software.

About

I lead software engineering at a mid-market enterprise navigating legacy modernization and SAP S/4HANA migration. Before management, I spent over a decade as an IC across healthcare, biotech, marketing tech, and SaaS -- shipping production systems in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, and C++.

Currently finishing an MS in Computer Science (AI specialization) at Georgia Tech and pursuing an MBA at Boston University Questrom School of Business.

My research focus is on machine learning for human-centered applications: cognitive load prediction from eye-tracking data, health literacy through retrieval-augmented generation, and ML for drug discovery.

Current Work

  • Completing a cognitive load prediction system trained on eye-tracking data (Random Forest, F1=0.897) with an interactive visualization dashboard
  • Building MedLit, a RAG pipeline that translates FHIR patient records into plain-language health explanations at multiple reading levels
  • Exploring ML applications in drug discovery and cheminformatics
