Release list
v1.0.1
Frontend performance & log rendering fixes.
Performance
- Logs frames derive columns from the fields actually present in the returned rows (capped at 500 with a panel warning) instead of one column per stream-schema field — streams with thousands of schema fields no longer freeze the browser.
- The query editor lists streams without schemas and lazily fetches only the selected stream's schema (
GET /streams/{stream}/schema), instead of downloading every stream's full schema on load. - Removed deep clones of full stream schemas on the render path.
Fixes
Float64,Boolean,UInt*and other Arrow schema types now map to proper Grafana field types.- Nested object/array values in log columns are stringified instead of rendering as
[object Object].
Added
- New data source option Log message field: render a designated field (e.g.
message, log, body) as the log line instead of the whole row as JSON. Shorter lines render faster and mitigate Grafana's known overlapping-log-lines glitch with long wrapped lines (grafana/grafana#103538).

v1.0.0
First release of this fork of the OpenObserve Grafana data source plugin.
Highlights
- Redesigned query editor with Logs, Traces, and Service Map tabs
- Trace search rendered as a table; click a row to open the full trace
- Service Map built from server-side aggregations (GROUP BY nodes + parent/child self-join edges)
- SQL editor (Monaco) with SQL + column autocomplete
- Field "top values" (GROUP BY + COUNT) from the Logs tab
- Single-request histogram (
histogram(_timestamp)) instead of partition fan-out - Fast mode toggle to skip the histogram
- "Filter for/out value" now inserts a proper
WHERE/ANDclause - 3-minute query timeout
Install (unsigned plugin, id openobserve)
- Download
openobserve-1.0.0.zipbelow and extract it into your Grafana plugins directory
(so files live in<plugins-dir>/openobserve/plugin.json). - Allow the unsigned plugin:
GF_PLUGINS_ALLOW_LOADING_UNSIGNED_PLUGINS=openobserve
(orallow_loading_unsigned_plugins = openobserveingrafana.ini). - Restart Grafana and add the OpenObserve data source.
See the README for full instructions and the security notice (scope OpenObserve credentials; use internally).
