What's New — Zest CLI v0.2.2 (Release 14/10/2026)

Changed

  • Faster update notices. The CLI now checks for new plugin and CLI versions every hour while it uploads, instead of once a day, so "update available" shows up the same day a release ships.
  • README matches the CLI. The npm page now describes what the CLI does today.

What's New — Zest CLI v0.2.1 (Release 13/10/2026)

Fixes

  • Windows binary download under Git Bash. The installer now uses the Windows built-in tar.exe, so unpacking works when Git Bash is first on PATH.
  • zest status for the Claude Code plugin. Version, running state and last sync now show real values instead of ? / –. Sync shows as on by default.
  • Logout ends the session on the server. zest logout now signs this device out on the server too, not only on disk. Other devices and the web app stay signed in.

What's New — Zest CLI v0.2.0 (Release 13/10/2026)

New

  • Pick your tools: npx @winding-labs/zest lists your AI coding tools, with the ones it found already checked. It then installs the Zest plugin for each one you keep: Claude Code, Codex, Grok Build, Hermes, opencode and Freebuff. Installing doesn't need a sign-in.
  • Guided setup: install and zest login now walk you through each step, with a spinner while you approve the sign-in in your browser.
  • zest status --watch keeps the status view live and refreshes it every second.

Improved

  • zest status shows each tool at a glance, with when it last synced and how many messages it synced today.

Fixed

  • npx @winding-labs/zest install no longer fails with "Invalid arguments".

@adamchraniuk adamchraniuk released this 12 Oct 10:59

What's New — Zest CLI (Release 12/10/2026)

The first release of the Zest CLI: one command that measures your Claude Code and Codex sessions.

npx @winding-labs/zest
  • One-line setup. Installs the CLI, signs you in to Zest and starts collecting new Claude Code and Codex sessions in the background.
  • Runs with your sessions. The collector starts with each Claude Code or Codex session and stops after the last one closes. zest start keeps it running until zest stop.
  • Replaces the plugins. If a tool already has the Zest plugin, the installer uploads what the plugin still holds and switches it off, so no session is collected twice.
  • Keeps itself up to date. The CLI updates itself when a new release is out. zest update updates now; set ZEST_NO_AUTO_UPDATE=1 to turn automatic updates off.
  • macOS, Linux and Windows (x64). Standalone binaries, checked against the SHA256 checksums in the npm package before they run.

Useful commands: zest status, zest pause / zest resume, and npx @winding-labs/zest --uninstall to remove everything.

Only sessions started after setup are collected.
