AndroidDSH 0.2.0 — DeepSeek Harness on Android

Choose a tag to compare

@Windmill12 Windmill12 released this 06 Oct 16:39

First public release. AndroidDSH runs the real DeepSeek Harness runtime and its
native web frontend on Android — no reimplemented UI.

Downloads

Both APKs are self-contained: the Node runtime, DSH's dependency tree, bash,
ripgrep and CPython are all inside the package. Nothing else to install.

File For Size
AndroidDSH-0.2.0-arm64-v8a.apk Real phones (almost all modern devices) ~277 MB
AndroidDSH-0.2.0-x86_64.apk Android emulators (x86_64 images) ~243 MB

Install with adb install -r AndroidDSH-0.2.0-arm64-v8a.apk, or copy it to the
device and open it (you'll need to allow installing from unknown sources).

These are debug-signed APKs. Installing a future release over this one works
fine; an APK signed with a different key requires uninstalling first.

Verify your download against the attached SHA256SUMS.txt.

What's inside

Component Version
DeepSeek Harness (dsh) 0.2.0-rc.2
Node.js 22.23.3
GNU bash 5.2.37 (static)
ripgrep 15.2.0 (with PCRE2)
CPython 3.13.15 (+ pip 26.2.1)
pnpm / npm 10.34.6 / bundled

Highlights

  • The genuine DSH web interface — sessions, trajectories, tool-call tree, sidebar,
    skills, goals, settings.
  • The agent executes bash, python3, glob and grep locally on the device.
  • Working directory is /sdcard/Documents/DSH, so file managers, USB/MTP and cloud
sync see the agent's output immediately.
  • Foreground service, so the agent keeps running when you switch apps.
  • Full terminal panel in the sidebar with the bundled bash 5.2; pnpm, npm,
npx and dsh are real executables on PATH.
  • Plugin installation works, including the dsh-market visual plugin marketplace.
  • API keys encrypted at rest with the Android Keystore (AES-GCM).
  • Wide-screen mode for tablets: a 720 CSS px layout viewport with a narrow-screen
    fallback for the settings screen.

Requirements

  • Android 8.0 (API 26) or newer. Verified on Android 16 / arm64.
  • ~600 MB of free storage for install plus the first-launch runtime unpack.
  • "All files access" (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) is requested on first launch for the
public working directory. Decline it and the app falls back to its private
directory with no loss of functionality.
  • A DeepSeek API key, entered either in DSH's onboarding flow or the app's settings.

Known limitations

  • No git and no C toolchain, so the agent can't run git commands and packages
needing compilation won't install. Pure JS / pure Python packages are fine.
  • pnpm's pass-through subcommands that need npm are handled by a bundled npm, but
    the ecosystem is not complete.
  • MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE is a sensitive permission; sideloading is unaffected but
Google Play distribution would require a declaration.
