What?
Adjusts the dashboard's default values so a fresh dashboard renders in a tidier, more balanced arrangement out of the box. Two related tweaks:
6columns /350pxmin column width /200pxrow height to12columns /140px/140px, aligned across both default definitions. No behavior or API changes, only default values.
Why?
With the previous defaults the bundled widgets looked loosely arranged and uneven on first load. A finer 12-column grid with smaller base tiles lets the seeded widgets sit in a more deliberate, balanced layout, improving the first impression when a user opens the dashboard for the first time.
How?
Grid defaults (
12columns,140pxmin column width,140pxrow height):routes/dashboard/hooks/use-dashboard-grid-settings/use-dashboard-grid-settings.ts:DEFAULT_GRID_SETTINGSupdated. This is the value the dashboard route uses when the preferences store has no entry, and what a settings reset writes back.routes/dashboard/widget-dashboard/context/dashboard-context.tsx:DEFAULT_GRIDaligned to the same values. The hook's own comment documents that the two must stay aligned; this keeps the provider fallback (used when nogridSettingsis passed) and the staging reset consistent with the hook.Starter layout (
lib/experimental/dashboard-widgets/default-layout-seed.php), placements retuned for the 12-column grid:Testing
