Your local account is now protected by a nine-digit device code. Workstr asks for it once
each time the app opens, and until then the account's key cannot be read or used - not by
the app, and not by anyone looking through the browser's storage. After unlocking, nothing
asks for it again until you close or reload Workstr, or choose Lock Workstr in Settings.
The first time you open this version with a local account, Workstr asks you to create the
code and moves your key over; if that fails, your key stays exactly where it was. Creating
an account, restoring one with a recovery key, and adding a device by QR code each ask for
a code before anything is saved, and each device has its own. The code never leaves the
device: it is not synced, not in exports, and not part of device pairing. It cannot be
recovered either - if you forget it, reset the vault and restore with your recovery key;
your training data stays. After several wrong codes Workstr makes you wait before the next
try, and reloading does not skip the wait. Installing an app update does not lock you out
after a quick trip to another app: while Workstr is unlocked, an update waits until you have
been away for ten minutes. Accounts using a browser extension or a remote signer are not
asked for a code. A nine-digit code slows down someone who copies your device's data; it
does not make that data impossible to break into, so keep your recovery key safe.
