Property changes were bypassing KVO notifications, causing NSInternalInconsistencyException for nested property observations.

Solution: Override setCurrentMainViewController to manually send proper KVO notifications using willChangeValueForKey/didChangeValueForKey. Uses associated objects to track state and prevent recursive notifications since we cannot add ivars to swizzled classes.
