Troubleshooting: No AI response

You may face issues with responses from the AI provider.

Some indicators include:

• The loading symbol spins for a while but there is no text displayed
• The message "undefined chars (undefined / sec)" is shown

This may happen due to various reasons. This article can help you start with troubleshooting your issue.

1. Check your internet connection - try accessing sites like chatgpt.com
   • Temporarily disable VPN or proxy services - these can sometimes block or interfere with AI service connections
2. Switch to a different provider
   • In AI Chat, you can choose a new provider:
     1. Create a new chat (press cmd+N)
     2. Choose another provider in the provider selection dropdown.
   • If changing a provider solves the issue, you may want to change your default provider.
     1. Go to the extension preferences
     2. Change the default provider from the dropdown
   • In most cases, changing the provider will resolve your issue. Third-party providers may be temporarily unavailable, and the best solution is to switch to a working one.
3. Update the extension
   • Provider issues are resolved in each update, so ensure you're on the latest version.
   • You can use the "Check for Updates" extension command to automatically update.
   • You can also enable "Automatically Check for Updates" in the extension preferences.
