@XeN-Made XeN-Made released this 24 Oct 21:29

A page for every game, your drives at a glance, console cases in Cases view, Hungarian, and fixes for a start-up hang and two crashes.

Already on ORION: it finds this update by itself (or Settings, About, Check now); your settings, favourites and box art stay. New install: download PPSA99062.zip, extract it and upload the PPSA99062 folder whole to /data/homebrew/ with a plain FTP client (binary mode). The README has every step.

New

Library

  • Details page: Options on any title, Details…: its cover, Play and Favourite, its title ID, version, kind, what plays it, the drive and folder it is on, its size, play time, last played and when it was added.
  • Cases view looks like the real thing: covers sit in their console's case. ORION comes with PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, PS Vita, Wii U, Xbox and Xbox 360 cases.
  • Your own cases: put a PNG, JPEG or WebP of an empty case in /data/orion/cases, named for the system (switch.png, gba.png, psp.png, ngc.png...), with a transparent or plain white area where the cover goes. Yours replace the built-in ones of the same name. ORION reads them when it opens.
  • Move to tab… now opens a list of your tabs, with New tab… at the end, instead of a long menu that ran off the screen.
  • Games in disc images are named by the console's own title (Planet Zoo instead of its file name), and release tags like [SPSX] are left out of names read from files.
  • The Hidden tab stays off the tab bar until you show it (Settings, Tabs, Hidden).

Settings

  • Drives: Settings, Storage shows how full the console's storage and each USB drive is, and how many of your titles are on each.
  • System: a new section for what is about the console rather than the library: Language, Return to ORION after a game, Open ORION after rest mode, Autoboot after the jailbreak and Run setup again.

Language

  • Hungarian (Magyar). Labels in capitals now keep their accents in every language (KÖNYVTÁR, MÚSICA).

Fixed

  • ORION could hang on its loading screen, then show a SIGPIPE error when closed, when the console's ELF loader was busy at start-up (with Open ORION after rest mode on). It no longer waits on the loader.
  • Settings could crash (SIGSEGV) when it opened. Fixed.

@XeN-Made XeN-Made released this 24 Oct 07:43

ORION's new home, PPSA99062, and Xbox 360 games through PS5X360 with their covers.

On ORION 01.102.000: it finds this update by itself (or Settings, Library, Check now) and installs it beside itself as a new tile. On an older ORION, or a new install: download PPSA99062.zip, extract it and upload the PPSA99062 folder whole to /data/homebrew/ with a plain FTP client (binary mode). The README has every step.

ORION is now PPSA99062

  • This update installs as a new tile, PPSA99062, with a small "NEW" tag on its icon. The old ORION (PPSA99061) stays until you delete it.
  • Open the new ORION: your settings, favourites, tabs, themes, box art, music and play times are all there.
  • Then delete the old one from the new ORION: Options on its tile, Delete. Nothing is deleted for you.
  • Autoboot follows by itself. If your autoloader names the payload by its path, point it at /data/homebrew/PPSA99062/assets/payloads/orion-autostart.elf.

New

  • PS5X360 (Xbox 360): Settings, Emulators, Scan for emulators finds it and its games: .iso discs and extracted games (a folder with default.xex) in its assets/roms, /data/xbox360 and xbox360/ on a drive. Cross starts a game straight in PS5X360, not its game list.
  • Xbox 360 covers download by themselves from XboxUnity, the source PS5X360 uses, matched by the game's own title ID read from the disc. A cover.png or cover.jpg in a game's folder, or a picture named as the disc beside it, comes first.

Fixed

  • Wii U games kept as a folder of files (title.tmd) now find the box art ORION downloaded for them on the next start.

@XeN-Made XeN-Made released this 24 Oct 01:01

Your own artwork and music, SteamGridDB covers, every backup ShadowMountPlus mounts, games' own music on hover, and a heads-up about ORION's next update.

Already on ORION: it finds this update by itself and offers to install it (or Settings, Library, Check now); your settings, favourites and box art stay. New install: download PPSA99061.zip, extract it and upload the PPSA99061 folder whole to /data/homebrew/ with a plain FTP client (binary mode). The README has every step.

Heads-up: the next update moves to PPSA99062

  • ORION's next update installs it as a new tile, PPSA99062, with a small "NEW" tag on its icon. When it appears, delete the old ORION and open the new one: your settings, favourites, tabs, themes, box art and play times come along.
  • This update shows that notice once. It installs nothing by itself.

New

Artwork

  • Your own pictures: Options on a title, Choose picture…, or drop a PNG or JPEG into /data/orion/custom-art named after the game or its title ID. Use its own picture puts the original back.
  • SteamGridDB: with your own free key (steamgriddb.com, your profile, Preferences, API), games no other source has a cover for get one, and Options on any title, Find other art…, shows up to eight covers on the tile to choose from. Paste the key in /data/orion/keys.txt or enter it in Settings, Box art.
  • Wide covers: a tab with the Landscape cover shape shows console games' 16:9 home-screen picture instead of a square icon.

Music

  • Title music: rest on a game and its own home-screen music plays over ORION's, as on the PS5's home screen. Choose music… on a title picks an .ogg of yours instead, or drop one into /data/orion/hover-music. Settings, Sound, Title music turns it off.

Library

  • Every backup ShadowMountPlus mounts now shows, exFAT images included, even without an FTP server running: ORION asks ShadowMountPlus directly.
  • Web-app titles like Payload Manager and ShadowMount's own tile show under Media.
  • Rename or hide any tab, All and Emulators included: Settings, Tabs, the tab's page.
  • Open ORION after rest mode (Settings, Library): when the console wakes on the home screen, ORION opens.
  • Backgrounds for games installed recently now appear once the system has them.

Fixed

  • FTP permissions: everything in /data/orion (and copies of it like orion-backup) can now be changed and deleted over FTP. ORION opens up old folders on its first start.
  • Deleting a title no longer fails with "a game is active or awaiting exit" right after ORION closes.
  • PS1 games on exFAT drives are no longer listed twice for PSwanStation.
  • When ORION cannot reach /data (ShadowMountPlus's backport_fakelib off, or BackPork running), it now says so instead of failing quietly.
  • Close ORION left the title menu: hold Circle anywhere to close ORION.

ORION in Spanish and Portuguese, every installed game on the home screen, two more emulators, and renaming.

New

Every game on your console

  • Installed games now show up: PS4 and PS5 packages installed the usual way (Beyond: Two Souls and the like) appear next to your other titles, labelled Installed.
  • Images mounted from anywhere, exFAT images included: whatever ShadowMountPlus registered on the home screen is in the library, wherever its folder is.

Emulators

  • PSwanStation (PS1): its games join the library and start straight in PSwanStation, with its own covers.
  • ProsperoEden (Switch): its games join the library and start from their covers, with its own covers.

Your library

  • Rename a title: Options, Rename…. Clear the name to give it its own back.

Languages

  • ORION now speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese (Brazil). Automatic follows the console's language; pick another in Settings, Library, Language, or in the first step of the setup. The screen changes as you choose.
  • Add or correct a language yourself: copy template.lang to /data/orion/lang/<code>.lang and fill it in. Sentences left empty show in English.

@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Oct 21:54

The first major release of ORION Media Center: your PS5 and PS4 games, homebrew, media apps and emulated games in one library, driven with the controller.

New install: download PPSA99061.zip, extract it and upload the PPSA99061 folder whole to /data/homebrew/ with a plain FTP client (binary mode). The README has every step. Already on a beta: ORION finds this release by itself and offers to install it; your settings, favourites and box art stay.

New since Beta 1

Emulators

  • PS5-ECAM: its Wii U, 3DS, DS and Switch games join the library and start straight in PS5-ECAM, returning to ORION when they close. Its own covers are used.
  • One cover per game: full ROM sets list each game once, the best file of it (a verified dump from the USA first, no bad dumps, hacks or trainers). Settings, Emulators, Every version of a game shows them all.
  • Game Boy games now share the GBC tab; GameCube is labelled NGC.
  • Very large RetroArch playlists (thousands of games on a USB drive) no longer keep ORION from opening.

Pictures

  • Games mounted from disc images show the home screen's sharp 512-pixel picture instead of a blurry 128-pixel one.
  • Box art for Switch, Wii U, 3DS and DS from GameTDB.
  • Options on a title: Download HD picture or Download box art again.
  • Changing tabs no longer stalls while a tab's covers load.

Themes

  • .theme files: write a theme in a few lines of text, with comments. The theming guide has every key and a template.
  • Live preview: in Appearance and a tab's page, Settings steps aside so you see each change on the library as you make it.
  • A theme per tab, right from Appearance: Theme for .

Other

  • Autoboot after the jailbreak is now off until you turn it on (Settings, Library).

ORION Media Center 01.002.001 (Beta 1 fix)

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Oct 16:48

A fix for Beta 1 (01.002.000); everything else is as it was.

Box art and updates work however ORION was copied. Some upload tools leave out text files, among them the HTTPS certificate list ORION needs: without it no box art downloaded and ORION could not check for updates ("Problem with the SSL CA cert" in /data/orion/art-trace.txt). The list is now built into ORION.

Installed 01.002.000 with such a tool? Its update check cannot reach GitHub, so install this one by hand: upload the PPSA99061 folder from this ZIP over the old one. Copy it whole, every file, with a plain FTP client in binary mode. Your settings and box art stay.

Installed it with a plain FTP client? ORION finds this release by itself and offers to install it.

ORION Media Center 01.002.000 (Beta 1)

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Oct 02:45

The first public beta of ORION Media Center: one library for your PS5 and PS4 games, homebrew, media apps and emulated games on a jailbroken PS5.

Install: extract PPSA99061.zip and upload its PPSA99061 folder to /data/homebrew/ on the console (FTP); ShadowMountPlus puts ORION on the home screen. The README has the full steps, autoboot with Payload Manager, and the controls.

Already running ORION 01.001.006? It finds this release by itself and offers to install it.

What's in it

  • Everything in one place: PS5 and PS4 games, homebrew and media apps, plus RetroArch, Porpoise (GameCube, Wii) and PS5SX2 (PS2) games, which start straight in their emulator. When two emulators can play a game, ORION asks which one and remembers.
  • Three views: Grid, Cases (big PS5-style cases, three to a screen) and List, each tab with its own view and order (name, recently added, platform, tag, recently played, most played).
  • Yours to arrange: Favourites, Continue playing, tabs of your own, hidden titles, search, play time, a theme per tab.
  • Box art downloaded as you scroll, or taken from what PS5SX2 and Porpoise already have.
  • Remove or delete a title from the home screen, from ORION.
  • First-run setup, everything editable in Settings, background music, autoboot after the jailbreak (Payload Manager), and self-updating from GitHub.

Good to know

  • This is a beta: please report what goes wrong, with the log files listed under "If something goes wrong" in the README.
  • Each update keeps the files it replaced in /data/orion/update/previous.
  • Standalone emulators other than RetroArch, Porpoise and PS5SX2 (Wii U, for one) are not detected yet.
  • Rest mode and a jailbreak do not mix well: if ORION does not open after rest mode, restart the console and jailbreak again.

Build dependency: ps5-opengl SDK 1.0.2

Pre-release

@XeN-Made XeN-Made released this 21 Oct 18:31

The ps5-opengl SDK 1.0.2 that ORION Media Center builds against, kept here so
the release build can fetch it (tools/fetch-opengl-sdk.sh). It is not an
ORION release.

The archive holds the compiled SDK (sdk/), its LICENSE, LICENSES/ and
THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, unchanged: sdk/manifest.sha256 matches the pinned
0d432edc9d648d6e0cccb4d5eb3db8484f10ba4b075b5ccf23edda3251b66360.

ps5-opengl is by BlackBearReloaded, GPL-3.0-or-later; it contains Mesa (MIT)
and OpenGNM PSBC components under their own licences, listed in the archive.
