Release 1.16
- PeepeeBox now runs on Android. Each release includes
PeepeeBox-android-arm64.apk, next to the Windows, Linux and macOS downloads. It needs a 64-bit ARM phone or tablet with Android 9 or later. The app has a Machine Manager that lists the images in its folder, identifies each one (release, territory, NSB), and runs it with the right dongle. Images come in with Import. The cabinet screen has Credit (a long press picks any of the ten coins and notes), Setup, Fullscreen, and More, which holds the network card, the modem, Pause, Reset and About. See android/README.md. - The ES1688 sound card no longer goes silent on ARM builds. Its filter-clock calculation converted a negative value straight to a byte, which C leaves undefined: x86 builds happened to get the right answer, but the Android build got zero, and the card's output filter silenced everything it played. The macOS build for Apple silicon is compiled the same way and may have been affected too.
Release 1.15
- Quick taps on the touchscreen are no longer lost. A very short tap now always reaches the game as a touch and a release. The controller also used to overwrite a byte before the game had read it; when that byte was the release, the finger stayed "down", and the next touch became a drag from the old spot.
- The MicroTouch controller now does everything in 3M's reference guide: the Binary, Zone and Raw formats, the Point, Down/Up and Polled modes, the calibration commands, and the settings a game stores in the controller (parameters, sensitivity, filter, line speed), which are kept between runs. Tablet reports set status bit 3, which 3M's later touch drivers need.
Release 1.14
- Every dongle is now answered the way the real one answers. Each generation from 1999 to 2007, and the IGO 8 Italy part, was put on a real parallel port and questioned directly and through its own games, and the emulated dongles were corrected to match. What they served before was partly reconstructed from recordings and guesswork; now it is measured.
- I.G.O. 5's button faces display correctly. They are enciphered with the dongle, and the emulated part answered the game's check in a way no real dongle does.
- I.G.O. 6 and I.G.O. Italy recognise their dongle the way a cabinet does. Both menus try two passwords in turn; the emulated part used to accept the wrong one, and the banner only came out right by accident. It now refuses it like the real dongle, and they settle on the right one.
- I.G.O. 3 no longer depends on the check table hidden on its disk (
GAMESTAT.OLD). The dongle arithmetic that table records has been worked out from a real dongle, so the emulated part computes the answers itself -- all 1,912 of the table's entries come out right in every mode. - Photo Play 2000 and I.G.O. 4 get their dongle's real answers, including the whole picture-key table, read off a 2000 dongle in 1,024 queries, and anything the real dongle refuses is refused the same way. I.G.O. 4 turns out to use the 2000 generation's dongle, not one of its own.
- Photo Play 2001, and I.G.O. 3 and 5, get their own dongles' answers where they used to get the I.G.O. 2 dongle's.
Release 1.13
- The NSM DATAprint 3000 joins the DPU-414 as a selectable printer, rebuilt from the documented hardware: the real lamp order and paper direction, the case-edge controls and three-button setup keyboard, the SRAM card, and the print, delete, initialise and recovery workflows an operator actually runs. Paper-out, transfer errors, write protection, timeouts and a faulted card all behave as they do on the machine, and a report is never committed when the card is checksum-invalid, reset or pulled. Pick the model in Tools > Printer type; the choice is remembered.
- The DATAprint's Epson M-160 has its own sound: solenoid impact chatter, the lead-cam motor, ribbon and feed mechanics, tearing the 57 mm paper, and the documented beeper cadences. DATAprint 3000 in English translates the legends, the card label and every firmware message for anyone who does not read the German original.
- Both printer windows now follow Windows display scaling, with the hit targets where they look, and each follows its real paper path -- the DPU-414's roll grows upward above its controls, the DATAprint's receipt grows downward below them.
- The nightly modem call sounds like one. The cabinets set
ATM1L3, speaker on until carrier and loud, so the call was always audible: dial tone, the number in DTMF, ringback, then the V.8 answer tone and V.34 or V.90 training, in UK or CEPT tones according to the country the cabinet set. The call also takes as long as a real one whether or not you hear it -- dialling paces itself digit by digit, the far end answers after a ring, training runs its full length before CONNECT, and an unanswered call rings on before NO CARRIER. Tools > Sound > Modem sounds turns the speaker off; it is on by default. - The toolbar's dongle button opens a dialog that puts the dongle's own settings first -- identity, Version, Territory and the parallel HASP -- built from the device's config table, so a setting added there turns up here too. The machine licence moves behind Machine licence..., which shows the licence in force and the serial it becomes, with "Random from the pool" and "Default". Nothing is written until OK, so Cancel now undoes the licence too; the old hand-off to Options saved on its own and could not be taken back.
Release 1.12
- Updating from inside PeepeeBox works again. Taking 1.11 stopped partway with "inflate failed (-5)": the updater's unzipper gave up at a point in the archive where it only had to read on, and 1.11's archive had one. It failed before touching anything, so the folder was left as it was.
- 1.10 and 1.11 still have the old unzipper, so every release archive is now checked against it before it is published, and repacked if it would trip it. This one was, so 1.10 and 1.11 update to 1.12 by themselves — including a copy that already failed on 1.11: Preferences > Updates > Check now, then Update.
Release 1.11
- I.G.O. 3 (2003) boots. Menu, games and photo games, with the photographs decrypting — before, it stopped at "dongle error" before the menu.
- I.G.O. 3's dongle emulation is beta: its games check the dongle against a table of answers recorded from a real one, and PeepeeBox replays that table off the disk image instead of computing them.
- I.G.O. 5 IT (CZ033) boots. It is the first I.G.O. 5 build, "Version 2005" without the B, and it reads the dongle the way I.G.O. 2 and 3 do; it was being sent the 2005B record and stopped at "wrong dongle version".
- Automatic updates: PeepeeBox looks at its GitHub releases page when it starts (and hourly, daily, weekly or monthly while running — or never) and, when a newer release is out, says which one and asks. Update now installs it over the folder while the cabinet keeps running and offers a restart; Preferences > Updates has the settings, a Check now, and the Update button for later. The prompt can show the new release's notes before you take it.
- This is the first release that can update itself, so 1.9.2 and earlier still need a manual download; from here on they do not.
- The network card is off by default — no cabinet had one. For an image with the Ethernet option, fit it under Tools > Network… by choosing the Realtek RTL8139C+ as NIC 1. Configurations saved by 1.9 and 1.10 start without it as well, so switch it back on there if you use it.
- Photo Play 2.0 images are identified by name, so the hard disk image manager lists them and the window title says which one it is.
ppfixrepairs more 2.0 images, and grows one that is too small.- The emulation speed is in the status bar now, where the refresh rate was, instead of at the end of the toolbar.
- The touchscreen has one interrupt setting, the one in its Options.
- The 1999 cabinets' dongle has been identified: it is a Marx CRYPTO-BOX, either the 560/Net or the Versa.
- The About box credits: x86 hardware emulation & gui design by the 86box team; all photoplay-related emulation by Xeon3D / Team HUEG PP.
Release 1.10.1

Release 1.10
