v1.0.0: Site Redesign

@Xernosz Xernosz released this 30 Sep 01:50

A $4.25 offer gets an F, then an $11 offer gets an A

DashCalc is out of beta. It got redesigned top to bottom, and now it looks as good as the math works. Same idea as always: type in the pay and the miles, see what you actually keep per hour after gas, car wear and taxes, and get a grade.

Open DashCalc · no account, no download, nothing to install.

What's new

  • A front page that explains DashCalc in about 10 seconds, with an animated route map.
  • A new calculator with a gauge-style grade dial, pay and miles side by side, and Skip/Take buttons right under your thumb.
  • The Journal (it used to be the Ledger) shows what you kept today, groups your offers by day, and has a strip of your last grades. Old Ledger links still work, and "Passed" is now "Skipped".
  • A Day/Night switch on every page. Night is the default.
  • A cleaner Setup page with live readouts of what your car really costs you per mile.
  • A Privacy & terms page, written in plain English.

Fixed

  • Firefox no longer asks for storage permission the moment you open the site.
  • Settings can't crash anymore when the saved data is empty.
  • Journal backups use your local date, and $0 offers restore correctly.
  • The example numbers on the front page stay correct when the IRS mileage rate changes.

DashCalc now counts visits anonymously with GoatCounter: page views plus 3 yes/no events, with no cookies and no IDs. Your offers, pay, miles and settings still never leave your phone. You can turn counting off on Setup, and browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are never counted. Here's exactly what it counts.

Thanks
