Beta v0.8.1
What's Changed
π New Features
-
Manual compaction that always runs and shows its summary in an
Earlier contextpanel (309e171, 59b5fb5) β/compact(alias/summarize) now forces a summary even when the history still fits the retained tail, keeping only the latest user turn verbatim, and prints the result in a roundedEarlier contextpanel under the transcript. SetshowCompactionSummarytofalseinconfig.jsonto hide it; automatic compaction keeps printing onlyCompacted context, and a session with nothing earlier printsNothing earlier to compact. -
Sending the queued follow-up with an empty
enterwhile a turn runs (e0a7575, fbcd82f) β pressing Enter on an empty composer now sends the queued follow-up immediately by interrupting the running turn or the in-progress compaction. Pressing empty Enter with nothing queued still does nothing. -
Host context for plugin tools (becce01) β operator plugins can implement
IHostToolandIHostMultimodalToolso their tools receive the live session context, such as the workspace, on each call. -
A
{{git_root}}prompt placeholder (99ac7ae) β prompt templates can use{{git_root}}to resolve the repository root when the workspace is inside a git repository, and the environment block printsGit rootwhen one is set.
π Fixes
-
Correct provider usage, tool calls, and error bodies (ba9dfec) β Gemini now reports usage once from the cumulative totals when the response completes, Ollama holds tool calls until the finish reason confirms them so non-tool finishes no longer emit phantom calls, and OpenAI-compatible errors whose body is a plain string now surface that message.
-
Plugin sessions that follow a replaced conversation or workspace (f1c34c1) β
/clear,/fork,/resume, and a workspace change now end and reopen the plugin session around the switch, so hooks and plugin tools stay bound to the live conversation and workspace. -
Skill discovery order and frontmatter validation (9ce65ce) β project OpenCode skills now override home OpenCode skills, nested
SKILL.mdfiles below a skill directory are ignored in favor of the immediate file, and whitespace-only quoted names or descriptions are rejected. -
Compaction failure handling (3d7f097) β a summarizer exception is contained to the summary round and reported as exhausted instead of escaping, and an empty candidate list now yields no summary instead of a blank one.
-
Unreadable instruction files during discovery (5cc8bcb) β instruction discovery now skips files it cannot open instead of failing the scan.
-
Reserved prompt set handling (1b95a94) β a prompt set directory named
defaultis now rejected as reserved with a clear note, anddefaultis no longer accepted as a valid set name. -
Empty side-question announcement (0436137) β the
/btwside-question view no longer announces an empty snapshot before content is available.
π Documentation
-
README command-line, provider, and roadmap documentation (4162f5a) β the README now documents the
crystal run, crystal space, crystal version, crystal plugins, andcrystal toolscommands, the built-in provider catalog, and a roadmap section. -
Anthropic provider setup documentation (e5cc53e) β the user guide now shows how to add a
~/.crystal/providers.jsonentry for Anthropic Messages (Claude) and setANTHROPIC_API_KEY. -
Installer alias and command section clarifications (3735744) β the README now explains the
crystalalias on Linux and macOS versusCrystalCodeon Windows, and separates everyday slash commands from shell commands. -
README badges, emoji headings, and terminal screenshot (326ee8f, d56fefa) β the README now shows status badges, emoji section headings, and a captured terminal session image.
-
Deferred model-list fetching in the roadmap (f3650b3) β the README and user guide now list automatic provider model-list fetching as planned but not implemented, and the README screenshot moved below the navigation links.
