BetterRestarts 1.0.1

Bugfix release. BetterRestarts now starts and works on Spigot.

Fixes

  • Fixed the plugin failing to start on Spigot because the command lookup used a method that only exists on Paper. The built in /restart command is now replaced on Spigot as well
  • If the existing commands cannot be looked up on an unusual server software, the plugin now logs a warning and keeps running instead of failing

Improvements

  • Unknown restart methods in config.yml now log a clear warning and fall back to shutdown
  • An invalid max-time in config.yml now logs a warning and falls back to 24h
  • Panel settings (url, server-id, api-key) are trimmed, so a stray space or a trailing slash in the URL no longer breaks the panel restart

Upgrading

Replace the jar and restart the server. No config changes are needed.

BetterRestarts 1.0.0

First release. A /restart command with a live countdown that everybody can see.

Highlights

  • /restart <time> [reason] with free time input like now, 30s, 5m or 1h30m
  • Action bar countdown for all players, also for players who join during the countdown
  • Titles at 10, 5 and 1 minute, a title countdown for the last 10 seconds, chat reminders and sounds
  • Run the command again during a countdown to update it, or use +5m and -1m to change it
  • /restart cancel, /restart status and /restart reload
  • Automatic restarts at fixed times and weekdays

Compatibility

  • One jar for Spigot, Paper, Purpur and Folia
  • Minecraft 1.21 and newer, Java 21 or newer
  • Replaces the built in /restart command, so nothing conflicts

Configuration

  • Messages in 10 languages: English, Chinese, Spanish, Hindi, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, German and Japanese
  • Every message, timing, display and sound can be changed or switched off
  • Restart methods: plain shutdown, Spigot restart, Pterodactyl and Pelican panel API or any console command
  • Tab completion for times

All permissions default to operators.

Good to know

BetterRestarts can only stop the server. Your host, panel or start script has to bring it back up, which most hosts do by default.

The plugin sends anonymous usage statistics to bStats. You can turn them off for all plugins in plugins/bStats/config.yml.
